This was done to lower the number of questions in comp.lang.perl.misc which could easily be answered with a little research by the poster. This method has worked well on comp.infosystems.www.authoring.cgi - check out Tom Boutell's page about it.
A CGI script will let you query or modify the database. You can find out how many times a given user has posted since the database begin (mid-June, 1996), or you can add an e-mail address to the database (so you don't get sent a copy of the FAQ the first time you post).

6676 copies of the FAQ have been sent.
