Patch Name: PHSS_8792 Patch Description: s700_800 10.20 Japanese SD version patch Creation Date: 96/10/02 Post Date: 96/10/11 Hardware Platforms - OS Releases: s700: 10.20 s800: 10.20 Products: SW-DIST B.10.20 Filesets: SW-DIST.SD-JPN-E-MSG SW-DIST.SD-JPN-S-MSG Automatic Reboot?: No Status: General Release Critical: No Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700_800/10.X/PHSS_8792 Symptoms: PHSS_8792: When an end-user runs SD-UX (Software Distributer-UX) in a Japanese LANG environment (Shift JIS or EUC locale), a memory fault (core dump) may occur. For example, when a user runs the following command: # swpackage -s /tmp/foo.psf -d /tmp/bar.depot SD will core dump. SD works fine when the user sets his/her LANG enviroment to "C" or leaves it undefined. Defect Description: PHSS_8792: Japanese grammar is different from English. When Japanese localizers translate SD message catalogs into Japanese, they have to change the order of parameters of some SD messages to make sense in Japanese. But they do not specify the changed order this causes data type mismatches when SD uses the Japanese message catalog and makes SD core dump.
