PHSS_26805: SR#8606250467:-pmd normal behaviour is affected when receiving large traps of size around 5 Kb. SR#8606250469:-ovtrapd cannot handle properly a trap storm of traps of size less than 8 Kb followed by a trap of size more than 8 Kb. SR#8606250473:-ovtrapd cannot handle properly a SNMPV2 inform PDU which has error status set. PHSS_25990: When the following operations are done, ovhelp window hangs (1) Run ovhelp with the -file option. (2) Move the scrollbar to the extreme bottom. (3) Enter a string in the "Search for:" field which does not exist in the help text. (4) Click on 'Find Previous' button. (5) Click on OK in the messaage box. (6) Next, Click on 'Find Next' button. PHSS_25127: ovactiond does not format automatic actions properly. PHSS_24946: Some NNM programs crash when large object-ids or hostnames are used. PHSS_24634: ovtrapd exits on receiving a zero byte packet. PHSS_23324: xnmgraph shows "Not enough memory to run graph" PHSS_22972: Sometimes xnmevents shows the following INTERNAL ERROR message window: INTERNAL ERROR at: xnmeventCB.C:720 numCreated(0) != numItems(20), need set ei->needListSync? (now==0) PHSS_22555: Negative ccordinates sometimes got created on drag and drop operations, ovwGetSymbolsByObject, and ovwCreateSymbols. If an application creates a symbol (using OVwCreateSymbols) with no symbol type specified, ovw sometimes core dumps. PHSS_22391: If a connection symbol had both a label and a text annotation displayed, the text annotation overlapped the label and made both hard to see. PHSS_22383: Memory leak when adding and removing objects from ovwdb object database. PHSS_22345: xnmloadmib won't load mib which has default value of size more than 64 bytes. PHSS_22226: xnmgraph statistics window does not show complete statistics. PHSS_22218: If the user rapidly selected/deselected the Set Filters... dialog box for xnmevents, occasionally the dialog box could lose its geometry and grow lengthwise. The only way to restore the dialog box back to its default height is to stop and restart xnmevents. PHSS_22151: The root layout specified in the app-defaults file is taken into account when the user uses "Map->New" menu option, but status propagation is not. Similarly if he uses "ovw -newmap" or "ovw -map" to create a new map, the status propagation specified in app-defaults file is taken into account while root layout is not. PHSS_22073: After installing patch PHSS_21741/PSOV_02734, MIB with 0 OID is disallowed with an error message: Error defining OBJECT IDENTIFIER: object identifier contains non-positive element: PHSS_22072: If a user closed the ovw exit dialog box via the window manager instead of selecting OK or Cancel, the user could no longer exit ovw via Map->Exit. PHSS_21741: A MIB with zero sub-identifiers is wrongly allowed by the mib parser. This fix holds good for both extensible agent and NNM mib parser module PHSS_21740: If one or more applications ungracefully disconnect from the ovEvent stack ( part of pmd ), it is possible that pmd will coredump with the function deleteApplication being in the stack. PHSS_21677: ovtrapd terminates when receives a trap that is > 8192B PHSS_21419: In the absence of name resolution for a node, the name of the node is not set to the lowest software loopback ip-address. In addition in the absence of a software loopback address, its not set to the lowest non-migratable ip-address. PHSS_21379: ovcolsql -f takes a very long time to complete on large oracle databases PHSS_21317: The date format shown when you select "Show Data" in xnmcollect application is not right, in the japanese locale. Part of the date is missing and the order of month, date and day is not right. PHSS_21316: When managing certain Xylan switches, it is possible to see events containing the following message: "Agent in distress: spinning in ifTable. Aborting request! Consider unmanaging node." PHSS_21228: Alarm Browser displays threshold value as x.xx (2 digit precision) whereas snmpColDump displays it as x.xxxxxxxx (8 digit precision). eg: If the Threshold value is 0.12688888, xnmevents displays it as 0.13, and snmpColDump shows it as 0.12688888. PHSS_21079: 'ovobjprint -s' shows only 150 characters of the SNMP sysDescr PHSS_21014: netmon polls the ISDN router devices too often. This frequent polling by netmon is causing heavy load on the devices. PHSS_20980: While doing a nmdemandpoll, netmon was trying to poll interfaces which it was not supposed to (those interfaces are part of the netmon.noDiscover file). PHSS_20697: In Japanese, the Web Alarm Browser shows junk in the time and node name fields. PHSS_20666: netmon will die on sig 10 when it recieves a trap with source IP address of 0.0.0.0. This happens only when tracing is enabled. PHSS_20563: Whenever the object instance portion of an lrf contains the % chars, orsd fails to start in DM. PHSS_20337: In some cases OVwDbListObjectsByFieldValues() returns some incorrect objects that do not have all the field values specified in the argument list. PHSS_20336: On a symbol that is 'executable'. If the "Modify/Describe" dialog box is brought up and the length of the dialog box increased and then the 'Action' changed. The Selection text box gets misplaced (sometimes its not visible). PHSS_20244: Programs snmpCollect and ovcoltosql can corrupt binary data files in $OV_DB/snmpCollect if the disk fills. The write will only write the available space which might be less than the size of the fixed-length record. Once this occurs, then the binary datafile is corrupted, and while subsequent writes will work, it will not be able to be read by ovcoltosql or snmpColDump. PHSS_20242: The ipmap process appears to hang when it is doing the initial map synchronization at map open time. In reality, it just takes a very long time. Looking at the map reveals that there are a huge number of segments attached to a node which does not have this many interfaces (could be thousands of interfaces). PHSS_20197: xnmloadmib leaks huge amounts of memory when loading mib files. Results in malloc failures. PHSS_19970: ovmapcount -ruvD dumps core. PHSS_19940: Select a symbol in ovw and try to change its symbol type. When the symbol type dialog box comes up do a selection so that no one symbol type gets fully selected. This leads ovw to coredump. PHSS_19926: If a new application is created through xnmbuilder and then ovw is restared and the menu path for the new application is edited, it doesn't get written to the application registration file. This causes the menu item to disappear next time ovw is restarted. PHSS_19925: snmpCollect takes about 30 minutes to initialize. PHSS_19923: a) execute ovw b) MENU:Options->Event Configuration c) Select Enterprise Name Select Event name Event Modify d) Change category DO NOT push any of OK,Reset,Cancel buttons. DO NOT close window e) exit ovw trapd.conf file gets re-written. In some cases it gets corrupted . PHSS_19922: In a EUC kanji japanese environment, xnmevents coredumps with SIGBUS for certain events. PHSS_19921: On double clicking an explodable symbol with a submap attached to it, if the parent submap is closed before the child submap can come up ovw coredumps. PHSS_19918: ovw process size grows every time the user opens and closes a submap. PHSS_19586: If ovw is running on Solaris and displaying on a remote X server, and the X server is disconnected, sometimes ovw will appear to spin, using CPU time. pstack shows that ovw is looping around XtAppPeekEvent. PHSS_19585: xnmbrowser can core dump on a DESCRIBE operation. PHSS_19583: ovtopodump -c says object is not there. PHSS_19582: xnmsnmpconf -read -verbose core dumps. PHSS_19366: xnmgraph gives Internal Error when we enter large values in "Resolution: User Defined" Field. Also the units of the entered Time values are not converted to higher units in a consistent manner. Defect Description: PHSS_26806: 8606250468:-There is a data overflow issue resulting in the defect. 8606250474:-The computation of required free space to allocate more buffer space was not performed correctly. 8606207948:-Validity check for an IP ADDRESS did not check for all the cases for a valid IP ADDRESS. Resolution: 8606250468:-Proper checking introduced to prevent the data overflow problem. 8606250474:-The buffer space computation algorithm has been corrected. 8606207948:-Validity checking for an IP ADDRESS modified to check for all the cases. PHSS_26805: SR#8606250467:-pmd behaviour is affected due to a wrong buffer size used. The size of format buffer used is not sufficient for handling large trap sizes. SR#8606250469:-The computation of required free space for allocation of buffer space was not performed correctly. SR#8606250473:-The logic used in the code does not handle properly the case of an SNMPV2 inform PDU with error status set. Resolution: SR#8606250467:-The format buffer size used in the OV_EVENT stack has been increased to handle the problem. SR#8606250469:-The buffer space computation algorithm has been corrected. SR#8606250473:-The code was modified so that ovtrapd will properly handle the case of SNMPV2 inform PDU with error status set. PHSS_25990: ovhelp was looping infinitely in a while loop. Resolution: Proper conditions were placed so that the program comes out of the while loop. PHSS_25127: The formatting function used by ovactiond was not the right one to use. Resolution: Now ovactiond calls a different formatting function for automatic actions. PHSS_24946: Function _OVinetHostAddress does not handle hostnames larger than 256 characters properly. Function OVmib_read_numeric_objid does not do any boundary check when converting object-id strings to array of sub- ids. Resolution: _OVinetHostAddress function now returns proper error values when the hostname is larger than 256 characters. OVmib_read_numeric_objid does boundary check on the passed array. PHSS_24634: ovtrapd checks the size of the incoming packets. If the size of the packet is zero byte, ovtrapd used to exit. Resolution: ovtrapd is made to return on receiving a zero byte packet. ovtrapd also places a trace message in $OV_LOG/ovtrapd.log indicating the receipt of a zero byte packet. PHSS_23324: The variable bytesNeeded in function main() had const int data type and was assigned 128*1024, which was more than it could hold. Resolution: bytesNeeded's data type changed to const unsigned long int PHSS_22972: In xnmevents, while synchronizing the changes of severity and acknowledgement of the events, the events in list will be compared with the visible events present in the browser. In code XmStringByteCompare() is used for comparing these events. But in XmString reference page says, "XmStringByteCompare provides the faster processing but strips out redundant information". So sometimes comparison of two strings will return false eventhough both strings same. Resolution: Replaced XmStringByteCompare() with XmStringCompare(). PHSS_22555: Sometimes "layout" wasn't being called to recalculate symbol positions. Also, layout needed to be disabled until all symbols were moved if multiple symbols were being moved at once. ovw accessed uninitialized memory in the OVwCreateSymbols code. Resolution: Layout is called when needed and layout is disabled until all symbols are moved. ovw no longer accesses uninitialized memory in the OVwCreateSymbols code. PHSS_22391: ovw incorrectly calculated the placement of text annotations for connection symbols. Resolution: ovw now correctly calculates the placement of the text annotation on connection symbols so the text annotation no longer overlaps the label. PHSS_22383: Memory allocated to objects added to hash table was not freed when the object was removed from hash table. Resolution: When objects are removed from hash table the associated memory was freed. PHSS_22345: Maximum token length allowed was 64 bytes in all the cases Resolution: Default value of size upto 65536 byte are allowed now PHSS_22226: xnmgraph statistics window does not have vertical scroll bar. Resolution: Include vertical & horizontal scroll bar. PHSS_22218: When some of the toggle buttons on the Set Filters.. dialog box are selected, they cause additional widgets to appear in the dialog box panes for that toggle. The rapid sequence of selects/deselects, combined with the addition of the extra widgets and raising the dialog box window sometimes caused the Set Filters... dialog box to lose its geometry. Resolution: The dialog box no longer raises itself when a toggle is selected, allowing xnmevents to properly add its additional widgets without any geometry problems. PHSS_22151: When "ovw -newmap" or "ovw -map" was invoked, it used a funtion openMap, to create a new map. This function never used the root layout. When the "Map->New" menu option is used, the function that created the "New Map" dialog box put the status propagation as default. Resolution: The function openMap has been modified to accept rootLayout also as a parameter. The dialog box code has also been changed to take into account the status propagation set in the app-defaults file. PHSS_22073: The information in the RFC1902 (7.10.Mapping of the OBJECT-TYPE value) which says for an OBJECT-TYPE macro, zero sub-identifier is not allowed. This information was misinterpreted, which lead to the fix disallowing MIB with 0 OID. Resolution: The changes are rolled back to accept MIB with 0 OID. PHSS_22072: ovw did not register for the close via window manager callback; when the dialog box was closed via the window manager, ovw continued to wait in a separate event loop rather than cancelling the operation and returning to the normal event loop Resolution: ovw now registers for the close via window manager callback and performs the same actions as if the user selected the "Cancel" button. PHSS_21741: No check is present to disallow zero sub-identifiers in the mib parsing routine Resolution: A check is implemented to disallow zero sub-identifiers for mib objects. There will be a parse error returned if the mib has an object with zero sub-identifier PHSS_21740: The code deleted applications while higher level function calls were processing the application list. This caused doubly freeing memory, accessing the freed memory for the application, or corrupting the traversal of the application list. Since the memory was corrupted in terms of the operations being done on the application structure or application list, then pmd would coredump. Resolution: The code now disables applications rather than deleting them during application list processing. This ensures that the application list remains intact throughout event processing. Upon the receipt of the next event, the application list is evaluated for disabled applications and these are removed prior to processing the newly received event. PHSS_21677: ovtrapd used to exit when the trap packet size was greater than or equal to 8192 bytes. Resolution: If the received trap packet size is greater than 8192 bytes, we drop the packet and log a message. PHSS_21419: The algorithm for finding a name did not behave correctly. If a non-migratable ip-address was found the algorithm rejected all software loopback addresses found after that. The logic for finding the lowest non-migratable ipaddress was also wrong. Resolution: The fix for selecting a software loopback address has been backported from NNM6.01 code (SR 1653308098). The logic for selecting the lowest non-migratable address has also been corrected. PHSS_21379: ovcolsql -f was using an inefficient algorithm to do its fixing of the database Resolution: Modified oracle switch layer to use dual cursors for fixing timestamps. PHSS_21317: The date format used to display is not as desired. The date format used is "%a %b %d %X" which involves kanji characters requiring extra width than in the english locale. The width provided for display is not sufficient. Resolution: The date format has been changed to "%Y/%m/%d %H:%M:%S". This does not involve kanji characters and the date is fully shown on the dailog box. PHSS_21316: The switch reports the ifNumber which will be smaller than the number of enteries in the ifTable. When netmon begins to pull the table and finds more entries than ifNumber which it had obtained earlier it will report the error message. Resolution: Netmon was changed to no longer look at the ifNumber for a managed node, and to use other methods to detect a spinning ifTable. PHSS_21228: snmpCollect when sending out the event, formats the threshold value with "%.02lf" format. Resolution: Changed the format of threshold value from "%.021f" to "%.08lg". Since the format is %.08lg, the floating point number argument is printed in style f or e, with the precision specifying the number of significant digits. The style used depends on the value converted. Style is used only if the exponent resulting from the conversion is greater than or equal to the precision. Trailing zeros are remove from the result. A radix character appears only if it is followed by a digit. PHSS_21079: netmon internally stores MIB strings in a 150 char buffer. topology database is updated with this buffer and hence the truncation of sysDescr Resolution: increased MIB2 string objects' buffer size to 255. PHSS_21014: The cu. ISDN interfaces keep going up & down very often. Each time it comes up, it sends a link-up trap to netmon. This causes netmon to schedule a ping followed by a configuration and discovery polls. This frequent polling by netmon is causing heavy load on the ISDN router devices Resolution: Changed netmon code to reduce the polling. PHSS_20980: When netmon was initiating a SNMP GetNext Request PDU to the node, the node was responding with an IP address belonging to the other interfaces on it (this interface was also in the netmon.noDiscover file). netmon was just reusing the PDU, resulting in the packet being sent to a different IP address than the first one. Resolution: Made a code change to ensure that netmon will always use the same IP address to query a node while doing a series of SNMP get-nexts. PHSS_20697: The date consisting of Day, Date, Month, Time and Year are read in as integers. In japanese, these are needed to be read as characters. Resolution: The day, date, month, time and year have been changed to character arrays. Now the date and time and the node names are displayed correctly. PHSS_20666: The problem was because of an unitialized local variable Resolution: Initialized the local variables to NULL before use PHSS_20563: In a DM installation, a % char used in the instance specification in the lrf file gets escaped during fprintf to the ovors file. Hence the ovors entry will not have the % char. Resolution: Instead of using fprintf, fputs is used in orsfrw.C to write the lrf records into the ovors file. PHSS_20337: For each field in an object the function checks if the field exists in the field-value list and then compares the value set, for the field, for that object with the value supplied, for the field, in the field-value list. In the case of a name field, a different kind of check is done; the value of the name field in the field value list is used to search for the corresponding object id. No check was however done to see if the object id returned is of the object for which the fields are being matched. Resolution: Now the object-ids are compared for a match. PHSS_20336: Even though the text box widget is attached properly, its resizeWidth property is set to TRUE. So when a new action is selected, the text box tries to resize itself causing the widget to be misplaced. Resolution: I have changed the code so that the text box has resizeWidth property set to FALSE. Instead the size of the selected string is calculated and the textbox resized accordingly. PHSS_20244: The defect was that the file should have been truncated on a partial write. Resolution: The file is truncated back to the end of the last full record in the file. PHSS_20242: The problem has to do with a case where a connector device (repeater or switch) is not getting properly "oriented". "Oriented" means that the device tells us which of its ports it hears a reference address that NNM has chosen for that network, which is called the "root device". If the connector can not tell us which port hears the "root device", NNM is not able to properly lay out that connector, and should not create any more than one segment attached to that device. There is a defect in the netmon process where it was attempting to lay out segments around a connector device which was not oriented. This can cause many different mis-behaviors, such as the continual creation of many thousands of ficticious interfaces and segments. Such behavior can make ipmap take a very long time to synchronize a map. Resolution: This problem is fixed by changing netmon to properly check to make sure a device is oriented before attempting to do layout relative to that device. PHSS_20197: Memory was not being freed in several places. Resolution: Memory has been freed in appropriate places. PHSS_19970: ovmapcount -r deletes objects in the Map Database which do not have corresponding objects in the object database. A list iterator goes through a list of Mapobjects and checks if the object exists in the object database. If it does not, it calls MapObject::doDelete. This deletes all symbols, child submaps etc connected with the object and then adds the object to the list of objects to be deleted. When deleting the connection symbols connected with the MapObject, the current Mapobject changes. The changed MapObject gets deleted in the current iteration. Later when the changed MapObject gets its chance to be deleted, it finds that its already been deleted. Dumps Core. Resolution: In MapObject::doDelete, we save the current object getting deleted. At the end when we are about to add the current object to the list of objects to be deleted, we check whether its changed. If it is, we do not add it otherwise we go about deleting it. PHSS_19940: When no symbol type gets selected, The symbol index pointer that is used in the function that changes the symbol is NULL. No check is made for this NULL pointer. This leads to an access violation. Resolution: In functions where the symbol or connection change is handled, a check has been put to see if the symbol index pointer is NULL. PHSS_19926: This happens due to the difference in the way in which the functions attached to menuitems on the menubar are interpreted by the parsing routines and the ovw applications. Applications assume that these functions will have a context expression of 'AllContext' while the parser gives them a context of 'EverReady'. Resolution: The specific case in which the applications request for a function with a context expression of 'AllContext' while the function actually has a context expression of 'EverReady' is been taken care in the search routine. PHSS_19925: Cusotmer was using "-I always" which is supposed to reduce the initialization time. But since he had only MibExpressions in his snmpCol.conf, there was no reduction in initialization time. Validation of each instance of the Expression against the actual instances available on the remote device causes the intitialization time to increase. Resolution: Added two options "-I startupNoExprChk" and "-IalwaysNoExprChk" so that the user can decide that the instances for each expression need not be validated against the instances on the device for which collection is happening. Using this option, the user may see errors getting logged like "Variable does not exist..." in the snmpCol.trace. But this is OK, since he is getting a good startup time. PHSS_19923: By default we were re-writting the trapd.conf file when ovw exits. Resolution: Now changed it so that a warning window pops up and user can either commit or discard his changes. PHSS_19922: The routine that extracts description from an event is assuming the node field to be greater than a certain size. During formatting, if the node happens to have a name in japanese language, the characters could be more than 1 byte in length. This causes improper formatting and finally leads to a coredump. Resolution: Now no assumption is made on the size of the node field. PHSS_19921: The position of the child submap on the screen is decided by the position of its parent. When the child submap comes up it tries to locate the coordinates of the parent. In case the parent is already closed then the function fails to find the location of the parent and coredumps Resolution: To take care of this boundary case a check is implemented. If the parent is no longer valid then a coordinate value of (0,0) is returned for the parent. PHSS_19918: Memory leaks in ovw. Resolution: A number of memory leaks in ovw in the code that opens and closes submaps have been found and fixed. Other significant memory leaks in this usage scenario cannot be fixed because they occur in the X libraries. ovw process size still grows, but it grows less. PHSS_19586: Once the X connection has gone down and the X Fatal Error handler has been called, calls to XtAppPeekEvent may hang. Resolution: Once the X connection has gone down, it is no longer necessary to call XtAppPeekEvent to wait for X events. This call is now made conditionally. PHSS_19585: xnmbrowser can core dump when you do a DESCRIBE on an OBJECT which has in its TYPE field a lengthy subtype string. This is because the static buffer allocated to store the TYPE field is only 256 byte which can be easily exceeded. Resolution: The static buffer allocated to store the TYPE field has been increased to 2048 bytes. PHSS_19583: The code to implement that functionality was not present. Resolution: Implemented the code to provide that functionality. PHSS_19582: The core dump happens due to the missing target name. Check for the missing target name is not done, so we enter a function with the target node as NULL and it core dumps. Resolution: Check for the validity of the command line parameters is done and usage message is displayed when target name is not supplied. PHSS_19366: A time_t value passed by reference is corrupted. The algorithm for conversion to higher units is also not appropriate for this feature. A time_t value passed by reference is corrupted. The algorithm for conversion to higher units is also not appropriate for this feature. Fixed the memory corruption and added a new function for the time values to be converted to higher units of time in a consistent manner. A time_t value passed by reference is corrupted. The algorithm for conversion to higher units is also not appropriate for this feature. Fixed the memory corruption and added a new function for the time values to be converted to higher units of time in a consistent manner. Resolution:

Defect:

A time_t value passed by reference is corrupted. The
algorithm for conversion to higher units is also not
	appropriate for this feature.
Fixed the memory corruption and added a new function
for the time values to be converted to higher units of time
	in a consistent manner.

	    patch:

		swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x match_target=true \
			-s /tmp/PHSS_26806.depot

By default swinstall will archive the original software in

copy of the original software, you can create an empty file
	named /var/adm/sw/patch/PATCH_NOSAVE.

patch cannot be deinstalled. Please be careful
		 when using this feature.

It is recommended that you move the PHSS_26806.text file to
	/var/adm/sw/patch for future reference.

sessions need to be closed. The "ovstop" command
	should then be executed.

installing the patch, you will be able to restore your
	current state from tape.

NOTE : ovstart is NOT executed after the patch is loaded
You will need to manually run ovstart.
Also, in order to keep a history of the patches
installed on your system the post-install script
will attempt to copy this .text file
	       to /usr/OV/ReleaseNotes/patches
	       (or /opt/OV/ReleaseNotes/patches). Please make
sure this file is in /tmp before installation.
