Patch Name: PHSS_26203 Patch Description: s700_800 10.20 OV OB4.00 patch - MA packet Creation Date: 02/02/07 Post Date: 02/02/11 Warning: 02/05/13 - This Non-Critical Warning has been issued by HP. - PHSS_26203 introduced behavior that can cause OmniBack to abort if non-OmniBack tapes are detected. The appropriate behavior in this situation is for OmniBack to prompt for new media. - When this behavior occurs, messages similar to the following will be displayed: [Warning] From: BSM@sys "dlb" Time: 04/18/02 17:11:32 "tar" medium in device "dds". The medium will not be used for backup. [Minor] From: BMA@sys "dds" Time: 04/18/02 17:11:37 [90:190] Invalid format version of OmniBack II medium. [Normal] From: BMA@sys "dds" Time: 04/18/02 17:11:37 ABORTED Media Agent "dds" [Critical] From: BSM@sys "dlb" Time: 04/18/02 17:11:38 None of the Disk Agents completed successfully. Session has failed. - To avoid this behavior, any of the following actions may be taken: 1. Obtain the following site-specific patches from your local HP Support Center: Windows Media Agent: SSPNT400_025 and SSPNT400_028 HP-UX Media Agent: SSPUX400_031 and SSPUX400_033 2. Remove PHSS_26203 from the OmniBack Installation Server and redistribute the Media Agent to all Media Agent clients. 3. Switch off header checking. This can be done by setting the value of OB2DISABLEHEADERCHECK variable to 1 in the /opt/omni/.omnirc file. 4. Initialize tapes in advance. This means that tapes should first be initialized and then used. Using foreign tapes (not used with OmniBack before) can result in above described error. Resolution: Ultrium devices are properly configured on Solaris systems. Please see Special Installation Instructions. Id = HSLco27114 Cleaning signal is incorrectly intercepted because of two REQUEST SENSE. Resolution: REQUEST SENSE is reduced from two to one. Id = NSMbb42922 Media Agent does not handle messages properly in cases when reconnect is needed. Resolution: Media Agent handles reconnect messages properly. Id = NSMex04530 Media import uses a lot of search operations in order to achieve better performance. In case of bad quality of drives or tapes, it sometimes fails with an I/O error. Resolution: New OB2 environment variable is introduced: OB2NOSEEKIMPORT. If this variable is set to 1, Media Agent will read through the complete tape and it will not use any search operations. This option reduces the chances of experiencing I/O errors during media import, but its performance is 3-4 times slower. If OB2NOSEEKIMPORT is set and the tape contains the "OB-crc" field, not only the tape is verified but also the "OB-crc". Since a copied tape (omnimcopy) will contain "OB-crc" field as well if the source tape did contain "OB-crc" fields, importing such a tape will also be "OB-crc" checked.
