Patch Name: PHSS_20580 Patch Description: s700_800 10.X OV ITO5.3X Consolidated Server Patch A.05.33 Creation Date: 00/03/08 Post Date: 00/03/10 Repost: 00/08/09 A problem has been discovered with superseding patch PHSS_21721. The message and history browsers may disappear if templates utilizing the SERVERLOGONLY option are used. PHSS_20580 does not exhibit this same behavior, so it is being re-released until a replacement patch is available. Hardware Platforms - OS Releases: s700: 10.20 s800: 10.20 Products: OpenView IT/Operations 5.3 Filesets: OVOPC.OVOPC-LIB OVOPC-WWW.OVOPC-WWW-SPA OVOPC-WWW.OVOPC-WWW-GUI OVOPC-ORA-JPN.OVOPC-UX-ORAJ OVOPC.OVOPC-MAN OVOPC.OVOPC-GUI-ENG OVOPC-WWW.OVOPC-WWW-JPN OVOPC-ORA.OVOPC-UX-ORAA OVOPC-ORA.OVOPC-UX-ORAB OVOPC-WWW.OVOPC-WWW-ENG OVOPC.OVOPC-UX-MGR78 OVOPC-JPN.OVOPC-GUI-JPN OVOPC-ORA.OVOPC-GUI-ORA OVOPC.OVOPC-GUI OVOPC-WWW.OVOPC-WWW-ORA Automatic Reboot?: No Status: General Superseded Critical: No Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700_800/10.X/PHSS_20580 Symptoms: PHSS_20580: - opchistdwn now allows more selective history downloads - opcconfig does not detect an installed MC/SG in Japanese environments - the Java GUI displays the SNMP community string in the 'Original message text' tab. - opc_backup fails to restart the opctrapi process because it starts the ITO agent _before_ the other OpenView processes are started - server processes shut down a few minutes after start up if there were unreachable MPI clients registered (like Java GUIs not properly terminated). This was due to a timing condition at server startup. - up to now it was not possible to print something from inside the Java GUI. - Installing UNIX agents from an ITO server which has no transition link from /bin to /usr/bin will leave a temporary file /tmp/remsh.out and an error message in the install.log file: ... opcping: '/bin/rm' not found - The service navigator has performance problems if you use too many (~1000) subservices. After every message change event, the Java GUI system uses 100% of its CPU for a protracted amount of time. - Cannot filter for non-IP nodes in the History Browser. - Responsibility check does not work for external nodes - message acknowledge performance improvements - In certain cases if you use the ANSE product and create secret keys for hosts which have alias names, the ITO processes don't start. The ovoareqsdr gets signal 10 and aborts. - The sel_msg report does not show the correct message source type. - the admin GUI (opcuiadm process) may abort if an application is added to the application bank - the operator GUI (opcuiop process) may abort once in a while due to wrong memory handling - The GUI aborts when opening an instruction interface with an instruction parameter longer than 245 bytes. PHSS_20024: - Display Manager memory leak in MSI in external node handling. - opc_backup corrupts the backup if it gets larger than 2GB the backup seems to runs OK but is unusable for restore. There is no fix yet, just a workaround: backup is prevented if it gets larger than 2GB , so no corrupt backups are made. A fix will follow in a later release. - opcdbreorg did not work for Oracle8 and tablespace OPC_4 - Unnecessary Invalid message ID errors (OpC50-10) in the opcerror file if ECS is used with NNM. - Message Group filter did not work correctly in the History Browser. Not all messages are displayed when filtering on Message Groups. - opccfgupld aborts when certain ITO 4 data is uploaded. - opccfgupld -replace reported error OpC50-1 for certain templates - the support tool itochecker had problems to determine the kernel parameters of HP-UX 11.x 64 bit systems - ORA-01455 during history download - An error message appears if an external node is deleted in the GUI. - Pattern matching does not work correct on a Japanese system. - opctmpldwn core dumps when used with more than 100 templates. - User bank(admin GUI) is empty after config. upload when using operators who have saved Browser Filters Defect Description: PHSS_20580: check the list of the symptoms Resolution: check the list of the symptoms PHSS_20024: check the list of the symptoms
