Failover did not occur when the ov processes were killed. 28. When there are more than 148 message logs configured, fmpmdstatus hangs. 29. DC232 does not check read mask returned by select call. 30. If two classes are configured to a single port and the first class has generic pattern as ".*" then the alarms sent to the second class will be treated as unknown. 31. If the second link is added in the same name using the ML API, the link is created only in topodb. 32. The 2nd in the list of objects created by the ML API is deleted 33. FDN string extraction was not possible for non-map objects. 34. Mismatch in number of characters in the MOC names supported by the Configurator and the Map Loader application. 35. ML API can be used to delete an object in adminstration state 36. New TPs are created in obj_inst with selection anme and mnemonic as NOSELECTION 37. The symbol status was put as executable if the symbol is not present in the fmpmap.conf. This is causing problem when the operator changes the symbol type for a Network and restart the OVw session. 38. Symbol deletion possible on client side. PHSS_14616: 1. Fix to address the reverse locate problem of fmpmap dumping core when more than 12 objects are selected for the reverse location operation. 2. Fix for bulk operations by ML causing early snapshot. 3. Fix to stop the core dump when duplicate symbol created. 4. OSM is able to grab the snapshot semaphore even though maploader is operational. 5. Address the problem of NSM not starting up after the maploader has been used to create objects. Defect Description: PHSS_14675: 1. The alarm database backup utility, fmpalmbkup, could accept dates in the future as the end date. 2. The AEMS dumped core when a new operator was added and the OEMF/FMP Server was shut down. 3. The fmperr utility did not display any information for the Alarm Handler syslog message ALH_0342. 4. Alarm Handler lost socket connection after the fmp_ahif socket becomes full and dumped core. 5. In the HA installations, the MD Server was restarted when the cmruncl was executed. 6. When multiple objects were restored simultaneously from Admin state, not all of them appeared restored on the map. 7. During the OEMF/FMP Server installation, there was an error in calculating the tablespace. 8. On the OEMF/FMP Workstation, the Set Time and Update Time in the Alarm Viewer Window displayed the time as per the OEMF/FMP Server time zone, though the time zone on the OEMF/FMP Workstation was set to one different from that of the OEMF/FMP Server. 9. Once the View Preference function is invoked, though its window is not always on the top of the Alarm Viewer Window, you are unable to use any of the Alarm Viewer Window functions. The functions in the latter window are not disabled. 10. The Alarm Viewer beeped on the arrival of alarms though it was not configured to receive alarms belonging to that NE. 11. The Sort Criteria could be defined to have more than one key set to the same function. 12. The iconised Alarm Viewer indicated that there were alarms even though the Alarm Viewer displayed no alarms. When displaying alarms the Alarm Viewer listed all the alarms before applying the view preference to clear the alarms that were not to be included. 13. If the DISPLAY environment variable was not set and the Alarm Viewer was started up the "-display" variable on the command line, then when the PC History option was invoked, the Alarm Viewer logged an error indicating that it was unable to open "DISPLAY". 14. The reports printed from the Alarm Viewer Window and the Alarm Detail Window did not include the "Alarm Type" field. 15. The format.conf file was not validated. No error or warning message was logged for any syntactical error in the file. 16. ESM set the symbol label to blank, when the FlashExceptionObject flag was disabled and the "Own" and "Disown" operations were executed on the exception symbol. 17. If the ESM connection to OVw(1) was lost due to the latter terminating ungracefully, the ESM was unable to detect this, it went into a loop using up much of the CPU. 18. Objects padding with asterisks (***) to indicate owned problem conditions, in the Exception Submap, was inconsistent. 19. There was conflict between the ESM layout and the icon symbol placement when the object layout and the submap layout are set to Ring and Star. 20. The label of the same symbol was padded more than once with exclamation marks (!!!) . 21. The ESM received Signal 10 when the AEMS configuration was updated online. 22. The Event Correlator module did not initalize the object state parameter correctly in the alarm unless the object was in administrative state. 23. When CMIP was used as the communications protocol, cirx daemon did not log any errors as the log file was not opened for it. 24. Symbols of objects in "Admin" state could be deleted from the Network Map. 25. The Status Manager did not recognize network elements that had whitespaces within their names (that is names made of multiple words). 26. On starting up the fmpadm session, if new objects were added, the session hung when synchronizing the network map. 27. More than 100 objects could be deleted at a time from the fmpadm session. 28. FMPMAP updated its list of all isFMP map objects and set application interest for all of them irrespective of whether they were existing or new objects. 29. The client Network Map session could not connect to NSM, if the session was started while the map loader application is running. 30. If a parent symbol was copied on to its child submap, and the child symbol in the submap is deleted, it caused a map to go into a recursive loop. 31. If the non-Map-Master (non-fmpadm) session did not connect to the NSM at startup, and the user closed the OVw (1) session, the Reconnect dialog box pops up. 32. When an object was created via the map loader application within the object_creation_callback, the check for existence of the symbol was not deterministic, which could result in an incorrect map creation. 33. Database became inconsistent if any object was deleted immediately after the map loader application completed loading objects. 34. When the network map was closed, depending on the number of sessions currently open, it took longer to close. 35. When the Network Map lost connection with NSM and the operator triggered a menu related activity, the Reconnect dialog box would go into an endless loop of opening and closing, inhibiting any action from the user. 36. When creating a secondary link between two objects, the primary link disappeared from the OEMF/FMP Workstation, if the secondary link was cancelled. 37. The secondary link created between two objects did not appear on the Network Map session on the OEMF/FMP Workstation. 38. The objects disappeared from the OEMF/FMP Workstation session, when identical links were created. 39. The Mapper module logged messages without the raw log index for the alarms for which the table lookup failed for the Additional Text field. 40. Deletion of meta-connection was prevented when both Termination Points were not present. 41. If there were too many messages to synchronize, the client OSMs did not allow the user to close the OVw (1) session till all the messages were processed. 42. Semaphore deadlock occurred when the OSM re-tried to lock shared memory semaphore when exiting on error(s). 43. If two SIGTERMs were received, OSM exited without cleaning up, as the signal handler was not re- initialized. 44. On error exit due to lack of semaphore resources, the message logged to remove the semaphore did not indicate the semaphore id. 45. OSM logged messages into the syslog file when the map loader rapidly loaded more than 100 objects on the map and did not allow OSM to checkpoint its file. 46. Symbol creation failed on client sessions when the symbol coordinates contained negative values. 47. The non-OSM-DM took more than 12 hours to detect that the OSM-DM had terminated. It relied on the number of OSM processes attached to the shared memory to detect the ungraceful exit of an OSM-DM process. 48. If multiple links were selected and deleted "from all submaps", it freed memory that had already been freed via an OVw API call led to OSM receiving a SIGSEVG. This resulted in the Network Map closed, though the objects were not deleted. 49. The message descriptions as listed by the utility fmperr required modification. 50. When an operator attempted to open a second Status Manager Window, the error message incorrectly indicated that the "Connection to the Status Manager Server was lost." and prompted the user to reconnect or abort the operation. 51. The Status Manager Window could not be shut using the 'Quit' function under the window's File menu. 52. When many operators start up OEMF/FMP client sessions within a short period, some of the updates from the OSM are missed for the last logged in operator. 53. During the OEMF/FMP Server installation, there was an error in calculating the tablespace. 54. The sample DC API program does not run. 55. The CCI exited with a bus error if the number of Data Collectors configured exceeded 80. 56. The Data Collector went into a loop trying to read the alarm file when the port was absent. 57. If alarm messages were configured without trailers, and multiple alarms were received in a message, then the alarm without the trailer had the next alarm appended to it, separated by "/012". 58. Alarms were being retransmitted to the Alarm Viewer. 59. The IFMPS executed a checkpoint of alarms with receipt of each alarm. This consumed a lot of CPU time. This problem has been solved by inducing a checkpoint at specific time intervals. To provide greater flexibility to the user, this time interval has been defined using the new environment variable, FMPMDCPTINTERVAL. The granularity of the time interval is in seconds. The default value is 300. 60. Any operator could run the utility fmpmdstop to stop the MD Server. 61. Any user belonging to the FMP group could startup the MD Server. 62. The background file for the network map could not be set using the map loader application. 63. If the links added to the Termination Point's FDN had the terminating slash (/), then the link was not created. 64. When Termination Point objects were created, and then their parents deleted, these objects were not removed from the device_name table. 65. The Map Loader API gave an error if even one of the Termination Points of the link being created did not already exist. 66. Mistakes in /opt/var/share/doc/*.msgs of SM. 67. RS232 goes into a loop trying to read the file. 68. Quickened startup by adding the variable FMP_OSM_CPT_NOTZ. 69. FMPAVTIMEFORMAT can be used to set user defined time format. Patch 6 1. Meta-connection submaps reported errors if a submap layout was set. 2. OSM-DM unable to access the delete semaphore if the previous owner SIGKILL'd this instance. 3. When the OSM starts up, it will set to ovwNormalStatus all isFMP objects on the OVw map. However it does not set the field FMPstatus with this severity. 4. ksh(1) env var FMP_OSM_QUICK_START, which will prevent the OSM from applying OSM application interest. 5. ESM dumps core, when TZ is removed from a list of env. variables. 6. ksh(1) env var FMP_ESM_SUBMAP_LAYOUT (valid values are 0 .. 5), which allows the ESM to create exception submaps with an appropriate submap layout. 0 = ovwNoLayout 1 = ovwPointToPointLayout 2 = ovwRowColumnLayout 3 = ovwBusLayout 4 = ovwStarLayout 5 = ovwRingLayout 7. To hasten the ESM startup by setting an env variable FMP_ESM_QUICK_START=1. 8. When semaphore errors occur, due to lack of system resources, if the actual system related error is also logged to the syslog, it will enable quicker problem resolution time. 9. If there was no connection to the NSM, the re-connect box is displayed. At this time, if the user triggered any menu related activity not related to objects (e.g. Spawn ovfmpav), the information dialog box took on a flashing feature (?) thereby blocking the total display. 10. The problem was that a grep pattern for getting the pid of the process ovfmpsessionlock was short i.e., "username.*lock". Due to this, if there was another process matching this pattern (for eg., xclock) the pid would be set "pid1\npid2". => the check "if [ $PID ]" fails. This implies that the ovfmpsessionlock will not be sent a signal so that it continues to run until the ovw session is stopped. During this period no other session can be started. Patch 5 1. If the user discharged a PC before the update alarms are been sent out by EC, AH discards the alarm, however, NSM still receive it. Hence, causing the inconsistency between AV and AH. 2. Operator action notifications were of higher priorty than the problem messages. Thus Alarm Viewer displayed problem conditions that were discharged during its initialisation. 3. Modifications in AEMS due to changes in libfmpml.a 4. libfmpml.a : Status Propagation has been enhanced to enable propagation of non map objects of component and termination point objects, provided the parent Network and Network Element Class objects were displayed on the Network Map. Patch 4 1. Syslog messages were not clear as to the semaphore errors that were occurring. 2. The Network Map dumped core if more than 100 objects were deleted. 3. OSM was able to take a snapshot of the semaphore even while it was operational. 4. Memory leak when Alarm Handler was run for a long period. 5. Accelerator keys were not listed for the functions Cut, Copy and Paste in the Edit menu of the map windows. Note that the accelerator keys are monitored by OSM module. No edit operation is allowed while the OSM file is being checkpointed. This control is set to prevent checkpoint file corruption. 6. The display was not clear in the GUI. A Motif patch is required for this. Refer the beginning of the section Compatibility Information and Installation Details for the Motif patch to be applied. 7. If the Naming Attribute contained a stop (.) in its name, then the Network Map was unable to start up. 8. Changes made to the Notification Format in the CMISE Event Table do not get updated correctly in the configuration files. Though the table in the Configurator reflects the change, the information is not reflected correctly in the configuration file. 9. Validation error in the file names. There were errors in validating fields that had multiple entries. They have now been corrected. 10. Bulk map application operations caused the OSM to checkpoint early leading to inconsistencies in the databases. 11. The Network Map dumped core when a duplicate symbol was created. 12. For errors during object creation in the Network Map, the error messages indicated the wrong status propagation parent. 13. An extra widget was created in the FDN dialog box during object creation. 14 FDN error message displayed during object creation could not be read. 15 When the Network Map loses connection with NSM and the reconnect option is selected, the Reconnect dialog box would go into an endless loop of opening and closing, inhibiting any action from the user. 16. In the Network Map Window, the object creation dialog box accepted blank values for the object RDN. 17. During object creation, if the object or submap information function was invoked, the dialog box for this function overwrote the object creation dialog box. 18 For the Network Map, in the map information file (fmpmap.conf) if the line length exceeded a limit parsing was a problem. (Message MA_003 was logged in the syslog file.) 19. NSM was unable to start up after the map loader application has been used to create objects. 20. OSM error message implied that internal checkpointing was not allowed. 21. If using CMIP for message transfer between the OEMF/FMP and OEMF/MD Servers, the Additional Text field would not accept graphic strings. It could not accept hexa decimal numbers a-f and A-F. 22. Memory leak if Additional Information field was used, when messages were transferred between the OEMF/FMP and OEMF/MD Servers using CMIP. 23. If the OV processes were killed while OEMF/FMP is running, then the OEMF/FMP Server was unable to start up in recovery mode. In HA OEMF/FMP Server installation, killing the OV processes caused the server to failover. 24. ESM gave a signal 11 (SIGSEGV) when AEMS was gracefully shut down. 25. On the Network Map, response to user triggered action was slow while there was much system activity. Then if the user double clicked the reconnect NSM button, it caused a bad socket connection and the Network Map started looping and excessive logging in its log file. 26. Using Cut/Copy and Paste, when changes were made to the Notification Format column in the CMISE Event table, the changes were not update in the relevant file. 27. In the HA installation, during the OEMF/FMPS package failover, the Map application running on the server was not shut down and thus the Map application could not be restarted on the alternative node. 28.If there are more than 148 message logs configured, then the fmpmdstatus hangs. 29. The Data Collector DC232 has been enhanced to improve performance. 30. If 2 network classes are configured to the same port, and the first one has a generic message pattern ".*", then the alarms meant for the second class will be treated as "unknown". 31. If duplicate links are created using the map loader APIs, then both the links were deleted. This problem has been fixed so that only one link is retained. 32. The second object in the list of objects created at the lowest containment level is deleted, when creating objects using the map loader application. 33. The FDN string extraction was not possible for non- map objects using the FMPGetObjectByMnemonic API. 34. Mismatch in the number of characters in the MOC names supported by the Configurator and the Map Loader application. 35. The map loader application could delete objects in administrative status. 36. New TPs are created in obj_inst with selection name and mnemonic as NOSELECTION. 37. The symbol type is assigned as executable if it is nor present in the map information file (fmpmap.conf). This caused inconsistencies when changing the symbol type for a network and restarting the OVw session. 38. It was possible to delete object symbols from the "read-only" maps of the client Network Map. PHSS_14616: 1. The reverse locate problem of fmpmap dumping core when more than 12 objects are selected for the reverse location operation. 2. Run the maploader to delete 50 objects or manually delete 50 objects when there are around 90 messages in the message file (Configure file limit to 100). OSM will get the delete CB and will start writing the delete messages. When it reaches the limit,it will checkpoint without writing all the delete messages. The delete messages will be written to the next message file. This can lead to inconsistencies in the ovwdb. 3. The process ovfmpmap dumps core when a duplicate symbol is created. 4. OSM is able to grab the snapshot semaphore even though maploader is operational causing the semaphore to be corrupted. 5. NSM not starting up after the maploader has been used to create objects. None Supersedes: PHSS_14616 Equivalent Patches: None Patch Package Size: 56250 KBytes Installation Instructions: Please review all instructions and the Hewlett-Packard SupportLine User Guide or your Hewlett-Packard support terms and conditions for precautions, scope of license, restrictions, and, limitation of liability and warranties, before installing this patch. ------------------------------------------------------------ 1. Back up your system before installing a patch. 2. Login as root. 3. Copy the patch to the /tmp directory. 4. Move to the /tmp directory and unshar the patch: cd /tmp sh PHSS_14675 5a. For a standalone system, run swinstall to install the patch: swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x match_target=true \ -s /tmp/PHSS_14675.depot 5b. For a homogeneous NFS Diskless cluster run swcluster on the server to install the patch on the server and the clients: swcluster -i -b This will invoke swcluster in the interactive mode and force all clients to be shut down. WARNING: All cluster clients must be shut down prior to the patch installation. Installing the patch while the clients are booted is unsupported and can lead to serious problems. The swcluster command will invoke an swinstall session in which you must specify: alternate root path - default is /export/shared_root/OS_700 source depot path - /tmp/PHSS_14675.depot To complete the installation, select the patch by choosing "Actions -> Match What Target Has" and then "Actions -> Install" from the Menubar. 5c. For a heterogeneous NFS Diskless cluster: - run swinstall on the server as in step 5a to install the patch on the cluster server. - run swcluster on the server as in step 5b to install the patch on the cluster clients. By default swinstall will archive the original software in /var/adm/sw/patch/PHSS_14675. If you do not wish to retain a copy of the original software, you can create an empty file named /var/adm/sw/patch/PATCH_NOSAVE. Warning: If this file exists when a patch is installed, the patch cannot be deinstalled. Please be careful when using this feature. It is recommended that you move the PHSS_14675.text file to /var/adm/sw/patch for future reference. To put this patch on a magnetic tape and install from the tape drive, use the command: dd if=/tmp/PHSS_14675.depot of=/dev/rmt/0m bs=2k Special Installation Instructions: None
