Patch Name: PHSS_13625 Patch Description: s700_800 10.20 dld.sl(5) cumulative patch Creation Date: 97/12/20 Post Date: 98/01/16 Warning: 98/04/16 - This Critical Warning has been issued by HP. - Patch PHSS_13625 introduces a defect that may cause applications that utilize shared libraries to hang or core dump. The specific circumstances under which this may occur are: - The application is linked to or loading shared libraries which do not have internal names (i.e libx.0, libx.1, etc.); OR - The application is directly or indirectly linked to the same shared library multple times; OR - The application explicitly unloads shared libraries. - HP has observed this problem in limited situations with VUE and CDE (these applications use the X server) during our testing. However, to date we have had only one known reported case with customer applications experiencing this problem since the patch was released on 98/01/15. - It is recommended that patch PHSS_13625 be removed from all systems on which it is installed. The superseded patch PHSS_10765 will be re-released and should be installed in its place. A new patch, PHSS_14716, is being developed and should be available within several weeks. PHSS_8583: The dld.sl has been modified to load data & bss as shared if an shared library's dl header is marked with the flag SHARE_DATA (the dld.sl will load data & bss as private by default) This patch is released for SYBASE and its customers who expects the data & bss of an shared library to be loaded as shared if it's SHARE_DATA flag in the dl header is set. However this dld.sl will not affect the behavior of any shared library that does not have its SHARE_DATA flag set in its dl header.
