Patch Name: PHSS_12330 Patch Description: s700_800 10.10-20 PerfView C.00.00 cumulative patch Creation Date: 97/10/15 Post Date: 97/11/19 Hardware Platforms - OS Releases: s700: 10.10 10.20 s800: 10.10 10.20 Products: PerfView C.00.00 Filesets: PerfView.PV Automatic Reboot?: No Status: General Release Critical: No Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700_800/10.X/PHSS_12330 Symptoms: PHSS_12330: Multiple symptoms are fixed with this patch: 1. Alarms from multi-homed systems may not be accepted by pvalarmd. 2. pv C.00.00 won't connect to mwa C.00.01 on systems with ServiceGuard/LockManager. 3. pv C.00.00 says "no data" when accessing mwa on Solaris 2.4/2.5 4. connecting to multi-homed system displays multiple SCOPEs available. Defect Description: PHSS_12330: The following defect descriptions are for PHSS_12330: 1. If PerfView is receiving alarms from a MeasureWare Agent system that has multiple IP addresses, then the user needs to create a pv.hosts file. If this file contains a system name with special characters > < = ( ) + - * /, then pvalarmd will not accept the alarm from that system. A modification was made to allow the use of these special characters. 2. If a MWA system is in a ServiceGuard/LockManager cluster, PerfView C.00.00 will not be able to connect to from an external machine. A change was made to the DCE datacomm code to allow connections to systems configured with ServiceGuard/LockManager. 3. PerfView C.00.00 connecting to MWA B.02.04 on Solaris 2.4/2.5 will draw a blank graph and say not data available. This worked with PerfView B.05.01. A change to the date filtering mechanism was needed to fix the problem. 4. Connect to a MeasureWare Agent system that has multiple IP adresses. When the Data Sources window comes up, it will show multiple SCOPE data sources. The code was modified to look for duplicate data sources before building the Data Sources window. For a standalone system, run swinstall to install the patch: swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x match_target=true \ -s /tmp/PHSS_12330.depot 5b. For a homogeneous NFS Diskless cluster run swcluster on the server to install the patch on the server and the clients: swcluster -i -b This will invoke swcluster in the interactive mode and force all clients to be shut down. WARNING: All cluster clients must be shut down prior to the patch installation. Installing the patch while the clients are booted is unsupported and can lead to serious problems. The swcluster command will invoke an swinstall session in which you must specify: alternate root path - default is /export/shared_root/OS_700 source depot path - /tmp/PHSS_12330.depot To complete the installation, select the patch by choosing "Actions -> Match What Target Has" and then "Actions -> Install" from the Menubar. 5c.
