Patch Name: PHNE_6831 Patch Description: s700_800 10.X mail(1) and rmail(1) cumulative patch Creation Date: 96/02/12 Post Date: 96/02/22 Repost: 96/06/13 The patch was modified to allow installation on HP-UX 10.10. Hardware Platforms - OS Releases: s700: 10.00 10.01 10.10 s800: 10.00 10.01 10.10 Products: N/A Filesets: OS-Core.CMDS-MIN Automatic Reboot?: No Status: General Release Critical: No Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700_800/10.X/PHNE_6831 Symptoms: PHNE_6831: * Dead.letter could not be created if one did not exist already. PHNE_6769: * Email addresses that included a quote string containing a blank space were truncated after the blank space on local delivery. This prevented many X400 addresses from being used. PHNE_6406: * User could create symbolic links to various files and cause mail to read or write to those files, if those files existed in group mail readable directories. Defect Description: PHNE_6831: * The unlink() procedure was always called regardless of whether the file existed. PHNE_6769: * The From line was parsed using sscanf which uses the blank space as a delimiter. This was changed to properly parse quoted names in email addresses. PHNE_6406: * No checks were made to prevent this problem.
