Back up your system before installing a patch. 2. Login as root. 3. Copy the patch to the /tmp directory. 4. Move to the /tmp directory and unshar the patch: cd /tmp sh PHNE_5667 5a. For a standalone system, run swinstall to install the patch: swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x match_target=true \ -s /tmp/PHNE_5667.depot 5b. For a homogeneous NFS Diskless cluster run swcluster on the server to install the patch on the server and the clients: swcluster -i -b This will invoke swcluster in the interactive mode and force all clients to be shut down. WARNING: All cluster clients must be shut down prior to the patch installation. Installing the patch while the clients are booted is unsupported and can lead to serious problems. The swcluster command will invoke an swinstall session in which you must specify: alternate root path - default is /export/shared_root/OS_700 source depot path - /tmp/PHNE_5667.depot To complete the installation, select the patch by choosing "Actions -> Match What Target Has" and then "Actions -> Install" from the Menubar. 5c. For a heterogeneous NFS Diskless cluster: - run swinstall on the server as in step 5a to install the patch on the cluster server. - run swcluster on the server as in step 5b to install the patch on the cluster clients. The cluster clients must be shut down as described in step 5b. By default swinstall will archive the original software in /var/adm/sw/patch/PHNE_5667. If you do not wish to retain a copy of the original software, you can create an empty file named /var/adm/sw/patch/PATCH_NOSAVE. Warning: If this file exists when a patch is installed, the patch cannot be deinstalled. Please be careful when using this feature. It is recommended that you move the PHNE_5667.text file to /var/adm/sw/patch for future reference. To put this patch on a magnetic tape and install from the tape drive, use the command: dd if=/tmp/PHNE_5667.depot of=/dev/rmt/0m bs=2k Special Installation Instructions: This patch is intended only for installation upon 10.01 systems that have been upgraded from 9.x, where the HP X.400 product is already installed. This provides the capability to upgrade the established X.400 environment to refer to changed filenames etc. It should be applied AFTER your system has been upgraded to 10.01 and HP X.400 has been swinstall'ed, and BEFORE the product is started up. This patch is a temporary measure until a release of HP X.400 is made in the future that integrates the upgrade process within the product installation. The Release Notes accompanying this HP X.400 release describe the steps that should have been taken before this patch is applied. The new locations of files used by the HP X.400 product are listed below. Released Files: 9.x location 10.x location /usr/lib/x400/ /opt/x400/bin/ (scripts) /opt/x400/lbin (executables) /opt/x400/lib/ (misc files) /usr/lib/x400/*.conf.ini /opt/x400/newconfig/*.conf (new config files) /usr/lib/x400/api/ /opt/x400/lib/hlapi/ /usr/lib/x400/errs/ /opt/x400/lib/errs/ /usr/lib/x400/gtwapi /opt/x400/lib/gtwapi/ /usr/man/man*.Z /usr/share/man/man*.Z. Generated Files: /usr/lib/x400/ /etc/opt/x400/ (config.files) /usr/spool/x400/* /var/opt/x400/* /usr/spool/x400/ /var/opt/x400/ /usr/spool/x400/log/* /var/opt/x400/log/* In general terms, files in /usr/lib/x400 are replaced by new files in /opt/x400/, existing configuration files are moved to /etc/opt/x400, and a symbolic link is inserted from /var/opt/x400 to /usr/spool/x400. This patch contains a dummy file, called /etc/opt/x400/x4upgrade_10, which will be renamed to ../x4upgrade_10.completed after a successful update. It serves no other purpose than as an indicator of successful completion, but should be left on the system when the update has terminated successfully. NOTE: If you have been using SENDMAIL as a mailer, you will need to reactivate SENDMAIL for use with HP X.400 with the command: /opt/bin/x400/x4smupdate For more details, refer to the Installing and Administering HP X.400 Administrators Guide, (32034-90020). --------- WARNING --------- This patch CANNOT be backed out (swremove'd). However as a safety measure, the entire contents of the /usr/lib/x400 directory will be backed up to the directory "/var/adm/sw/patch/PHNE_5667/usr" before files in it are deleted. The /usr/lib/x400 directory structure will be left in place, with any user files that it may contain. In addition, the entire /usr/spool/x400 directory is backed up to the same location. Once the upgrade has been completed, the directory /usr/lib/x400 and the backups in /var/adm/sw/patch/PHNE_5667/usr can be deleted as required, to conserve disc space.
