Since they have both the same order, the kernel panics. - JAGad14719: System panics during boot from /sbin/rc2.d/S310atm in getmsg_subr, with message: panic Buffer Overrun. The driver is reusing the memory block (mblk) carrying a DL_BIND_REQ to reply with a DL_BIND_ACK which does not fit in the buffer. - JAGac79031: ifOperStatus (for "Operational Status") and ifAdminStatus (for "Administrative status") are inconsistent for CIP interface. ifOperStatus and ifAdminStatus objects were not updated properly. - JAGac42555: The MC/SG cluster is configured to automaticaly start with its associated package(s) at system boot up. When the system is rebooted the cluster starts successfully, however the SAP package fails to start , as the associated ATM resource can't be monitored when LANG is not set to "C". - JAGad07300: rstatd hangs on systems that have ATM installed. Control message sent by the rstatd was discarded by the the driver on /dev/atm device. That is why rstatd was blocked in getmsg call. - JAGab77735: After moving a remote LEC from one ATM switch to another ATM switch, the hp9000 can't ping anymore the remote system. This is because its ATM address is not refreshed in the local hp9000 LEC elarp table. According to ATM Forum LANE specifications, the entry should be deleted after the aging timer expired. Resolution: - JAGad04560: Function which encodes the MAC address into the ILMI reply has been corrected. Now ILMI sends 6 binary octets instead of 12 ASCII. - JAGad21318: The IFT lock is released in the error paths of alx_complete_conreq before grabing the OPEN_LIST lock. - JAGad14719: The incoming buffer containing DL_BIND_REQ is freed and a new mblk is allocated to return DL_BIND_ACK. - JAGac79031: Now for CIP, both ifAdminStatus and ifOperStatus are being updated properly. - JAGac42555: This was caused by the mesg witten by atm commands to routed by EMS. The mesg is now written to standard error instead of standard out. - JAGad07300: Now, driver sends a DL_ERROR_ACK (DL_BADPRIM) when receiving an unknown control message namely M_PROTO and M_PCPROTO. - JAGab77735: The new code now passes the right parameters to function that starts LE_ARP aging timer PHNE_21423: - JAGac57113: channel error in driver atm2pci panic on V-class servers. On V-class, driver and card communicate through shared memory managed by the EPIC. If two processors write to the same shared memory location, the order the writes are actually executed is not guaranteed. To guarantee the order a read should be performed between the writes to flush pending reads. In some corner cases, required reads were missing. This leads to channel errors. - JAGab69572: interoperability problems caused by LANE eavesdropping. Some proprietary extensions of LANE do not interoperate with LANE emulation eavesdropping. HP implementation was not providing any support to disable eavesdropping. - JAGab77832: Cannot join LANE services if the LAN type is not specified during the configuration phase. In a few configurations, LANE services may require the LEC to explicitely specify the LAN type to either 802.3/Ethernet or 802.5. HP implementation was not providing users the capacity to configure the LAN type. - JAGab63567: ATM subsystem start-up failure when no ATM card installed. This problem is caused by the fact that the start-up script started some ATM daemons but ATM driver does not let them access some devices if no ATM card is installed. - 5003429381: Static routes over ATM elan interface fail with error: network unreachable. This is caused by the fact that some parameters needed to initialize the interface for IP, should be retrieved from the ELAN services. This may not be completed before the start-up script which add static routes is executed. In this case IP is not aware of the interface. Hence the error network unreachable. - 1653310185, JAGab64432: High error rate reported by Glance for Elan Interfaces. The MIB-II counter ifInErrors was incremented each time a packet was received is a SAP that is not bound with IP. This is case for instance when edge device forward packets broadcasted on SAP 0xFF, or for backup interface on a HA configuration. - 1653308841, JAGab64430: Cannot do Token Ring source routing if LECS does not provide Segment ID in the LE_CONFIGURE_RESPONSE. The LEC stack was not retrieving the Segment from the packet to be able to do source routing. - JAGab77735: MAC LEARP entries not deleted or updated. The problem was caused by incorrect implementation of functions which manage MAC entries. In one case the function which starts aging timer was called with a bad parameter. This was resulting to the timer not being started. - 5003453373, JAGab64953: a patch can be installed on a subsequent release. The product releases the patch applies to where documented but this was not enforced. - JAGab73825: HPMC panic when resetting ATM 622 card. The ATM card continued to do the DMA even after reset of card was received. - JAGad02216: data page fault in alx_read-resume when atmnit and atmstop are called in a continuous loop. The data page fault occurs when alx_read_resume tries to access locks which were already released and freed. - JAGad01352: Data memory protection panic in function LIF_F_handler while doing traffic on Token ring Elan. The RIF length in the source routed packet is odd. The RIF length is used as an offset to calculate a new address. The odd length causes our software to try to access an unsigned short integer on an odd boundary. - JAGad03364: Unable to recover traffic on an HA configuration. This problem is caused by an inconsistency between the behavior of the ATM HA monitor daemon(hatmmon), and IP behavior when several IP addresses are configured over interface. When both the primary and secondary interfaces go down, hatmmon switches the IP addresses over the primary interface. At this time IP requests information (mac address, mtu size, lan type,...) about the interface. As the primary elan interface is down at this time, a null mac address is returned. Later when the primary interface comes up, an ifconfig is performed but IP does not request the parameter and continue to associate a null mac address to the interface. Any traffic with this null mac address is then dropped by the corresponding LEC. - 1653279752, JAGab64354: Loopback routes are not created for CIP and LANE interfaces. Loopback routes were not automatically created for CIP and LANE interfaces. Resolution: - JAGac57113: reads have been added to guarantee order of writes in the shared memory wherever it is necessary. - JAGab69572: LANE eavesdropping can now be disabled if the following is set in the ATM configuration file /etc/rc.config.d/atmconf: ATM_ELAN_NOEAVESDROP=1, before the ATM subsystem is initialized. - JAGab77832: the LAN type can now be specified in the LEC interface configuration file by setting either HP_ATM_ELAN_TYPE=802.3 for 802.3/ethernet HP_ATM_ELAN_TYPE=802.5 for token ring. - JAGab63567: Start-up script has ben changed to check if at least one ATM card is installed before proceeding to card dependant initialization. - 5003429381: Start-up script has been changed to be able to use a configurable parameter to synchronize initialization of Elan interfaces. - 1653310185, JAGab64432: MIB II counter ifInErrors is no longer incremented if a packet is received with a SAP that is not bound with IP. - 1653308841, JAGab64430: The Segment ID is now retrieved from the packets if it is not provided in LE_CONFIGURED_RESPONSE. - JAGab77735: The function which starts aging timer is now called with the right parameter. - 5003453373, JAGab64953: Now when a patch is installed, the version of the product is checked. - JAGab73825: The ATM driver now disables interrupts and disables DMA before resetting the card. - JAGad02116: The ATM driver code now checks the state of VC before attempting to access the lock. - JAGad01352: The standard allows us to drop a packet if the RIF length is odd. Now, the packet is dropped if RIF length is odd. - JAGad03364: hatmmon has been modified to switch over IP addresses only when the interface is UP. - Loopback routes are now automatically created for CIP and LANE interfaces. The card PPA is coded on both LEC unit and LEC index The mask used to extract card PPA from LEC enabled only 4 bits, truncating PPA >=16. In this case there was an inconsistence between the value extracted from LEC unit and the value extracted from LEC index. That lead to the rejection of the initialization request. - JAGab92756:Unable to join Elan services with some connections from Elan services (LES or BUS) blocked in "Go Up" state. When the Elan service requests a connection with the LEC, the request is routed to an entity that sends an IOCTL to get the vci, vpi. The implementation of the entity was discarding any negative acknowledgement to the IOCTL. That blocked the entity so that it was no longer able to process further requests. - 5003458067: ATM initialization takes long time (up to 10mn) if DNS should be reached through ATM. This is due to the fact that initialization code of ATM was calling DNS functions to validate local IP addresses. DNS was not yet reachable as ATM was not ready. The delay was due to DNS function timeout. - JAGaa94097: Unable to establish ABR SVCs. The ATM stack was checking that ABR Initial Cell Rate negotiated during the SVC establishement was greater than the Minimum Cell Rate. review all instructions and the Hewlett-Packard SupportLine User Guide or your Hewlett-Packard support terms and conditions for precautions, scope of license, restrictions, and, limitation of liability and warranties, before installing this patch. ------------------------------------------------------------ 1. Back up your system before installing a patch. 2. Login as root. 3. Copy the patch to the /tmp directory. 4. Move to the /tmp directory and unshar the patch: cd /tmp sh PHNE_22586 5a. For a standalone system, run swinstall to install the patch: swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x match_target=true \ -s /tmp/PHNE_22586.depot By default swinstall will archive the original software in /var/adm/sw/patch/PHNE_22586. If you do not wish to retain a copy of the original software, you can create an empty file named /var/adm/sw/patch/PATCH_NOSAVE. WARNING: If this file exists when a patch is installed, the patch cannot be deinstalled. Please be careful when using this feature. It is recommended that you move the PHNE_22586.text file to /var/adm/sw/patch for future reference. To put this patch on a magnetic tape and install from the tape drive, use the command: dd if=/tmp/PHNE_22586.depot of=/dev/rmt/0m bs=2k Special Installation Instructions: This patch installs only on release 3.0 or 6.0 of ATM which includes LAN Emulation, it will not install on ATM release 2.0 which product revision is B.10.20.*. You will need to install a later version, prior to installation of this patch. If this patch is installed on release 3.0 and the customer wants to go back to this release, he will have to remove the atm product, and then install the release 3.0 and the appropriate patches. This patch also improves the behavior in regard to the swverify errors caused by the control scripts in the PHNE_15346 patch. However, since the PHNE_15346 control scripts could not be fixed with this patch, if you install this patch on top of PHNE_15346, and then remove this patch, the swverify will disclose IPD synchronization errors. You may ignore them. As this patch works for both HSC and HP-PB ATM products, you may see some normal warnings about some files missing at installation. You may ignore them.
