Patch Name: PHNE_17533 Patch Description: s700_800 10.26 Xnsoi(1X) enhancements Creation Date: 99/02/03 Post Date: 99/05/14 Hardware Platforms - OS Releases: s700: 10.26 s800: 10.26 Products: N/A Filesets: BLS.BLS-CORE Automatic Reboot?: No Status: General Release Critical: No Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700_800/10.X/PHNE_17533 Symptoms: PHNE_17533: 1. When Xnsoi role program adds a host to the M6RHDB, an m6ctl -h is not performed. 2. Xnsoi allows adding NIS's m6rhdb entry to local M6RHDB file. 3. Xnsoi's remote client GUI shows local host name. 4. When NIS is down, and a remote host is being added, the GUI is inconsistent Defect Description: PHNE_17533: 1. Xnsoi should execute m6ctl -h when M6RHDB is updated so that the user does not need an additional step to do it. 2. Xnsoi adds the M6RHDB entry that exists in the /var/yp/NISClient/M6RHDB file into the local M6RHDB file when NIS is running. 3. On the NIS master server, the Remote Client screens in the Xnsoi role program display the local host name. 4. GUI is different depending on NIS state Resolution: 1. Automatically perform an m6ctl -h after an entry is added. 2. If NIS is running, and the M6RHDB entry exists in the NIS version of M6RHDB file, add option will not add the entry to the local file. 3. Remove the local host name from the screen 4. GUI now same when NIS is up or down SR: 0000000000 Patch Files: /usr/bin/X11/Xnsoi what(1) Output: /usr/bin/X11/Xnsoi: 1999/05/07 Hewlett-Packard HP-UX 10.26 TOS [ ic5cf - DAV17 ] DCinit.c 3.12 15:56:59 2/23/92 SecureWare util.c 3.6 15:57:36 2/23/92 SecureWare ScreenCB.c 3.3 15:57:22 2/23/92 SecureWare List.c 3.4.1.1 16:41:56 10/16/92 SecureWare Listcb.c 3.5.1.1 12:57:28 10/16/92 SecureWare Listcre.c 3.5.1.5 16:00:01 11/9/92 SecureWare ListHost.c 3.2.1.1 17:36:52 10/16/92 SecureWare ListHostcr.c 3.2.1.5 07:41:13 11/5/92 SecureWare RHHostHelp.c 3.2.1.3 15:47:57 11/10/92 SecureWare FileDsp.c 3.3.1.2 09:42:39 7/28/92 SecureWare FileDspcb.c 3.3 15:57:07 2/23/92 SecureWare FileDspcre.c 3.3.1.6 14:24:05 11/12/92 SecureWare CreTokDB.c 3.4 15:56:57 2/23/92 SecureWare CreTokDBcre.c 3.4.1.3 17:24:46 11/12/92 SecureWare IntConfcre.c 3.4.1.4 17:47:32 11/12/92 SecureWare EditHostscre.c 3.5.1.3 15:28:56 11/10/92 SecureWare 99/05/07 seccmd/screens/xif/nso/Main/IRHDB.c, hpux, hpux_10.26, ic5cf Revision 1.8 PATCH_10.26 ( PHNE_17533) IDBcre.c 3.4.1.4 15:26:32 11/12/92 SecureWare 99/05/07 seccmd/screens/xif/nso/Main/M6Ctl.c, hpux, hpux_10.26, ic5cf Revision 1.6 PATCH_10.26 ( PHNE_17533) M6Ctlcre.c 3.5.1.1 16:56:03 11/12/92 SecureWare Stats.c 3.3.1.1 08:32:23 3/5/92 SecureWare Domaincre.c 3.4.1.3 13:22:13 11/11/92 SecureWare DCCreate.c 3.21 15:55:14 2/23/92 SecureWare DCDestroy.c 3.16 15:55:15 2/23/92 SecureWare DCHelp.c 3.5 15:55:15 2/23/92 SecureWare DCIntr.c 3.19 15:55:16 2/23/92 SecureWare DCMsg.c 3.9.1.1 07:34:10 11/10/92 SecureWare DCWIntr.c 3.15.1.1 17:39:51 10/16/92 SecureWar e WIData.c 3.15 15:55:21 2/23/92 SecureWare DBData.c 3.30 15:55:12 2/23/92 SecureWare BAData.c 3.17 15:55:11 2/23/92 SecureWare SWalloc.c 3.5 15:55:40 2/23/92 SecureWare SWstring.c 3.6 15:55:41 2/23/92 SecureWare cwtable.c 3.8.1.1 08:45:28 10/15/92 SecureWare cksum(1) Output: 2897136854 364544 /usr/bin/X11/Xnsoi Patch Conflicts: None Patch Dependencies: None Hardware Dependencies: None Other Dependencies: None Supersedes: None Equivalent Patches: None Patch Package Size: 410 KBytes Installation Instructions: Please review all instructions and the Hewlett-Packard SupportLine User Guide or your Hewlett-Packard support terms and conditions for precautions, scope of license, restrictions, and, limitation of liability and warranties, before installing this patch. ------------------------------------------------------------ 1. For a standalone system, run swinstall to install the patch: swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x match_target=true \ -s /tmp/PHNE_17533.depot 5b. For a homogeneous NFS Diskless cluster run swcluster on the server to install the patch on the server and the clients: swcluster -i -b This will invoke swcluster in the interactive mode and force all clients to be shut down. WARNING: All cluster clients must be shut down prior to the patch installation. Installing the patch while the clients are booted is unsupported and can lead to serious problems. The swcluster command will invoke an swinstall session in which you must specify: alternate root path - default is /export/shared_root/OS_700 source depot path - /tmp/PHNE_17533.depot To complete the installation, select the patch by choosing "Actions -> Match What Target Has" and then "Actions -> Install" from the Menubar. 5c. For a heterogeneous NFS Diskless cluster: - run swinstall on the server as in step 5a to install the patch on the cluster server. - run swcluster on the server as in step 5b to install the patch on the cluster clients. By default swinstall will archive the original software in /var/adm/sw/patch/PHNE_17533. If you do not wish to retain a copy of the original software, you can create an empty file named /var/adm/sw/patch/PATCH_NOSAVE. It is recommended that you move the PHNE_17533.text file to /var/adm/sw/patch for future reference. To put this patch on a magnetic tape and install from the tape drive, use the command: dd if=/tmp/PHNE_17533.depot of=/dev/rmt/0m bs=2k Special Installation Instructions: None
