Patch Name: PHNE_16693 Patch Description: s700_800 10.10 nettl cummulative patch. Creation Date: 98/11/24 Post Date: 98/12/02 Hardware Platforms - OS Releases: s700: 10.10 s800: 10.10 Products: N/A Filesets: Networking.NETTL-ADM Networking.NETTL-RUN Networking.NETTL-MIN Networking.NW-ENG-A-MAN Automatic Reboot?: No Status: General Release Critical: No Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700_800/10.X/PHNE_16693 Symptoms: PHNE_16693: 1. Tersely format -1 (one) cuts the mss field to only 3 characters. 2. Enhancement: Tersely format -1 doesn't show the ACK counter and the window size if the packet is only ACK without data content. 3. netfmt date handling is not consistent with the libc inferencing window. PHNE_9425: With this patch, the user will be able to set a date of 4 digits instead of just 2 digits. PHNE_7656: The user will see a core-dump when the SNMP sub- system is formatted using the netfmt. The type of formatting used is the "nice". PHNE_7655: The ntl_write() function had an effect of unblocking the blocked SIGCHLD signal. Defect Description: PHNE_16693: 1.When netfmt displays the mss during terse formatting,it is limited to 3 digits, even if the mss is a 4 digit value. 2.When netfmt does terse formatting, it doesn't show the ACK and WIN fields if the packet is only ACK without any data. 3.Netfmt should be able to deal with both 2 figure and 4 figure year dates post 2000 (as it does pre 2000).The inferencing window for the 2 figure dates should be consistent with the libC inferencing window. PHNE_9425: With this patch, the user will be able to set a date of 4 digits instead of just 2 digits. PHNE_7656: The core dump is seen when the user is uses the /usr/sbin/netfmt to format tracing and logging binary files beloging to the SNMP sub-system. The user should use the -N option to see the core dump. PHNE_7655: The ntl_write() function had an effect of unblocking the blocked SIGCHLD signal. For a standalone system, run swinstall to install the patch: swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x match_target=true \ -s /tmp/PHNE_16693.depot 5b. For a homogeneous NFS Diskless cluster run swcluster on the server to install the patch on the server and the clients: swcluster -i -b This will invoke swcluster in the interactive mode and force all clients to be shut down. WARNING: All cluster clients must be shut down prior to the patch installation. Installing the patch while the clients are booted is unsupported and can lead to serious problems. The swcluster command will invoke an swinstall session in which you must specify: alternate root path - default is /export/shared_root/OS_700 source depot path - /tmp/PHNE_16693.depot To complete the installation, select the patch by choosing "Actions -> Match What Target Has" and then "Actions -> Install" from the Menubar. 5c. For a heterogeneous NFS Diskless cluster: - run swinstall on the server as in step 5a to install the patch on the cluster server. - run swcluster on the server as in step 5b to install the patch on the cluster clients. By default swinstall will archive the original software in /var/adm/sw/patch/PHNE_16693. If you do not wish to retain a copy of the original software, you can create an empty file named /var/adm/sw/patch/PATCH_NOSAVE. Warning: If this file exists when a patch is installed, the patch cannot be deinstalled. Please be careful when using this feature. It is recommended that you move the PHNE_16693.text file to /var/adm/sw/patch for future reference. To put this patch on a magnetic tape and install from the tape drive, use the command: dd if=/tmp/PHNE_16693.depot of=/dev/rmt/0m bs=2k Special Installation Instructions: None
