Patch Name: PHNE_12003 Patch Description: s700_800 10.20 ATM HSC and HP-PB 3.0 cumulative patch Creation Date: 97/09/05 Post Date: 97/09/10 Warning: 97/09/22 - This Non-Critical Warning has been issued by HP. - This patch includes an enhancement to improve the perfomances of ATM products (J2806BA/J2805AA) for HP-UX 10.20. A problem may be experienced if routers are involved in the network topology. (lan Emulation configuration). In this case packets may be dropped by the router resulting in an none operational networking. - The new feature only can be disabled by removing the patch from the system. - The previous patches PHNE_11301 and PHNE_11302 will be reposted till a new replacement patch is available. PHNE_10151: PANIC The system may panic in ecInitAmCgPtyNmb function, this can happen when adding more than 2 destinations to an edge device and when the learp entry associated to one of the destinations is removed. The system may panic in ecTxCtrlFrame function during connection establishment and when losing connection with BUS at the same time. The system may panic in LSS_F_SAddPstMsgMult or memory may be corrupted when a new mbuf must be allocated to add the ethernet header and if the message is too short and need pading. So subsequents connection requests generated at expiry of timer TCON are ignored. This make that SVCs can no longer be set up on this link even after atminit. The only way to have again SVCs is to reboot. - GREhp08738 LAN Emulation specs require that for UNI 3.0 the mode must be present in AAL PARAMETERS IE in SETUP message. This element is missing in SETUP messages initiated by LEC. This prevents to connect to some equipments. - GREhp08793 Interoperability problem with CROSSCOM/XLX switch : ilmid killed during the UNI phase recognition. After atminit, atmmgr shows that the ILMI address registration is not complete. Indeed, about 10 seconds after atminit, ilmid does a coredump. Trace shows that the switch sent us two large packets filled with SNMP requests. As these are the last packets of the trace, ILMI does not support some of the requested objects, causing a core. - GREhp08816 CONNECT with AAL parameters with NULL max CPCS-SDU size: some interoperability problems were encountered due to the fact that ATM stack acknoweledge some incoming SETUP messages destined to LEC with CONNECT messages that have AAL parameters withunexpected null maximum cpcs-ssdu size. - GREhp09029 panic in ATQ_F_queue attempt to queue twice panic+0x10 ATQ_F_queue+0x70 ABC_F_bufcall+0x1c PVC_F0_acommit+0x1f0 PVC_F0_vcctx_handler+0x354 VCC_F_vcctx_handler+0x28 VCC_F_vctab_start+0xc0 NIC_F_nicctx_handler+0x7d8 CAM_F_if_state+0x60 msgbuf shows: panic: (display==0xbf00, flags==0x0) ATQ_F_queue attempt to queue twice - GREhp09605 The sig_call_ref type is not compliant with signaling. The problem occurs only when the card in the "Turbo slot" of the 9000/D350 is started. The HPMC occurs because a parity error has been seen on the GSC+ bus during a read command started by atmgsc_recv(). The analysis of the PIM show the following: For the bus converter (path 10/63) 0x35/se ==> The IOA LBC saw a parity error on GSC+. Back up your system before installing a patch. 2. Login as root. 3. Copy the patch to the /tmp directory. 4. Move to the /tmp directory and unshar the patch: cd /tmp sh PHNE_12003 5a. For a standalone system, run swinstall to install the patch: swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x match_target=true \ -s /tmp/PHNE_12003.depot 5b. For a homogeneous NFS Diskless cluster run swcluster on the server to install the patch on the server and the clients: swcluster -i -b This will invoke swcluster in the interactive mode and force all clients to be shut down. WARNING: All cluster clients must be shut down prior to the patch installation. Installing the patch while the clients are booted is unsupported and can lead to serious problems. The swcluster command will invoke an swinstall session in which you must specify: alternate root path - default is /export/shared_root/OS_700 source depot path - /tmp/PHNE_12003.depot To complete the installation, select the patch by choosing "Actions -> Match What Target Has" and then "Actions -> Install" from the Menubar. 5c. For a heterogeneous NFS Diskless cluster: - run swinstall on the server as in step 5a to install the patch on the cluster server. - run swcluster on the server as in step 5b to install the patch on the cluster clients. By default swinstall will archive the original software in /var/adm/sw/patch/PHNE_12003. If you do not wish to retain a copy of the original software, you can create an empty file named /var/adm/sw/patch/PATCH_NOSAVE. Warning: If this file exists when a patch is installed, the patch cannot be deinstalled. Please be careful when using this feature. It is recommended that you move the PHNE_12003.text file to /var/adm/sw/patch for future reference. To put this patch on a magnetic tape and install from the tape drive, use the command: dd if=/tmp/PHNE_12003.depot of=/dev/rmt/0m bs=2k Special Installation Instructions: This patch installs only on release 3.0 of ATM which includes LAN Emulation, it will not install on ATM release 2.0 which product revision is B.10.20.* As this patch works for both HSC and HP-PB ATM products, you may see some normal warnings about some files missing at installation, ignore them.
