	2. Local site hiding and masquerading not

	PHNE_10099:

	1.  sendmail 10.20 uses /etc/nsswitch.conf
	    instead of /etc/mail/service.switch.

	2.  UUCP  mail  fails  due  to  an MX  record
	    configuration problem.

	3.  Lines within sendmail.cf  relating to OpenMail
	    and X.400 have become space-separated instead
	    of tab-separated.

	4.  Sendmail 10.20 with PHNE_9624 has problems
	    with DBM files.

	PHNE_9624:
	1. Upgraded sendmail (1M) to 8.7.6

	PHNE_8702:
	1. SENDMAIL - cannot send mail if only using NIS
	2. sendmail doesn't restart if it dies on HP-UX 10.20
	3. /usr/sbin/makemap  does  not  put  correctly  build a
	   nis aliases map

Defect Description:
	PHNE_10496:

	1. Error in ruleset 99.

	2. Rulesets corresponding to site hiding/masquerading
	   were commented out in sendmail.cf.

	PHNE_10099:

	1. ER:Have sendmail 10.20 use /etc/nsswitch.conf
	   rather than /etc/mail/service.switch.

	2. Problem with sendmail 10.20 and UUCP.

	3. Latest sendmail patch (PHNE_9624) has bad
	   lines in sendmail.cf file.

	4. Sendmail 10.20 with PHNE_9624 has problems with
	   DBM files.

	If NIS is used, please install the latest NFS-NIS megapatch.
	Specifically, sendmail is affected by the latest version of
	ypmake, ypinit, and mkalias.  Sendmail 8.7 uses the .db
	format for alias databases by default; so new patched
	versions of the NIS utilities is needed in order to build
	the standard .pag/.dir files needed for NIS servers of
	sendmail alias maps.

Installation Instructions:
	Please review all instructions and the Hewlett-Packard
	SupportLine User Guide or your Hewlett-Packard support terms
	and conditions for precautions, scope of license,
	restrictions, and, limitation of liability and warranties,
	before installing this patch.
	------------------------------------------------------------
	1. Back up your system before installing a patch.

	2. Login as root.

	3. Copy the patch to the /tmp directory.

	4. Move to the /tmp directory and unshar the patch:

		cd /tmp
		sh PHNE_10496

	5a. For a standalone system, run swinstall to install the
	    patch:

		swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x match_target=true \
			-s /tmp/PHNE_10496.depot

	5b. For a homogeneous NFS Diskless cluster run swcluster on the
	    server to install the patch on the server and the clients:

		swcluster -i -b

	    This will invoke swcluster in the interactive mode and
	    force all clients to be shut down.

	    WARNING: All cluster clients must be shut down prior to the
		     patch installation.  Installing the patch while the
		     clients are booted is unsupported and can lead to
		     serious problems.

	    The swcluster command will invoke an swinstall session in which
	    you must specify:

		alternate root path  -  default is /export/shared_root/OS_700
		source depot path    -  /tmp/PHNE_10496.depot

	    To complete the installation, select the patch by choosing
	    "Actions -> Match What Target Has" and then "Actions -> Install"
	    from the Menubar.

	5c. For a heterogeneous NFS Diskless cluster:

		- run swinstall on the server as in step 5a to install
		  the patch on the cluster server.

		- run swcluster on the server as in step 5b to install
		  the patch on the cluster clients.

	By default swinstall will archive the original software in
	/var/adm/sw/patch/PHNE_10496.  If you do not wish to retain a
	copy of the original software, you can create an empty file
	named /var/adm/sw/patch/PATCH_NOSAVE.

	Warning: If this file exists when a patch is installed, the
	         patch cannot be deinstalled.  Please be careful
		 when using this feature.

	It is recommended that you move the PHNE_10496.text file to
	/var/adm/sw/patch for future reference.

	To put this patch on a magnetic tape and install from the
	tape drive, use the command:

		dd if=/tmp/PHNE_10496.depot of=/dev/rmt/0m bs=2k

Special Installation Instructions:
	This patch contains the implementation for an
	enhancement request asking for reading the switch
	configuration for sendmail from the
	/etc/nsswitch.conf file instead of from
	/etc/mail/service.switch. Hence this patch does
	not contain /usr/newconfig/etc/mail/service.switch
	and its man page /usr/share/man/man1m.Z/service.switch.1m

	A new copy of the sendmail.cf file is provided
	under /usr/newconfig/etc/mail/sendmail.cf.
	It is recommended that the local modifications
	to the /etc/mail/sendmail.cf file be incorporated
	into the new copy and be placed under
	/etc/mail/sendmail.cf. This sendmail.cf is modified
	to take care of Openmail interoperability problems.

	Information on sendmail 8.7 is documented in the
	file /usr/share/doc/sendmail8-7_delta.txt and
	/usr/share/doc/sendmail8-7_manual.ps. The PCL
	version of the sendmail8.7 manual is available
	as /usr/share/doc/sendmail8-7_manual.pcl

	NOTE:

	1. PHNE_10496    will    NOT    get     installed     unless
	   /etc/nsswitch.conf   is   present  on  the   system.  The
	   /etc/nsswitch.conf  file needs to be  present  BEFORE the
	   start of  patch  installation,  and it must  contain  the
	   entries for  specifying  the lookup  policy for hosts and
	   aliases. For example, if PHNE_10496 is to be installed in
	   an environment that uses DNS then the  /etc/nsswitch.conf
	   needs to be created with the entries

	        hosts: dns files
	        aliases: files

	   In an NIS environment, the /etc/nsswitch.conf needs to be
	   created with the entries

	        hosts: nis files
	        aliases: nis files

	2. The  manuals   (/usr/share/doc/sendmail8-7_manual.ps  and
	   /usr/share/doc/sendmail8-7_manual.pcl)   supplied   along
	   with this patch refer to the following  information  that
	   is no longer valid:

	   The section "Managing  sendmail Aliases with NIS (Network
	   Information Service)" states the following

	        1. Edit the /etc/mail/service.switch file to specify
	           the lookup sequence.  For example, to specify NIS
	           for both  hostname and aliases  lookup  enter the
	           following:

	                hosts NIS
	                aliases NIS

	           For  information on the syntax of this file, type
	           man 1M service.switch

	        2. Open the  /etc/mail/sendmail.cf  file with a text
	           editor and uncomment the following line:


	                O ServiceSwitchFile=/etc/mail/service.switch
