Patch Name: PHCO_8821 Patch Description: s700_800 10.20 remote print jobs to HPDPS cumulative patch Creation Date: 96/10/10 Post Date: 96/10/25 Hardware Platforms - OS Releases: s700: 10.20 s800: 10.20 Products: DistributedPrint B.10.20 Filesets: DistributedPrint.PD-CLIENT DistributedPrint.PD-SUPERVISOR Automatic Reboot?: No Status: General Superseded Critical: No Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700_800/10.X/PHCO_8821 Symptoms: PHCO_8821: Jobs submitted from remote servers (via rlpdaemon) to HPDPS printers will fail to spool. PHCO_8435: Jobs submitted from remote servers (via rlpdaemon) to HPDPS printers will fail to spool. Defect Description: PHCO_8821: Because /var/spool/lp/request/PDRequest directory does not exist, rlpdaemon can not spool remote print jobs, destined for HPDPS printers. To verify, please check for existence of /var/spool/lp/request/PDRequest directory. Also please check the mode and ownership. Owner should be 'lp', group should be 'bin' and the mode should be octal 0755 or user 'rwx', group and other 'r-x'. Also the name of local and its corresponding remote printer, on a remote server, must match the name of HPDPS' logical printer that jobs are directed to. Otherwise the printer name is not recognized and jobs are not forwarded. PHCO_8435: Jobs submitted from remote servers (via rlpdaemon) to HPDPS printers will fail to spool. For a standalone system, run swinstall to install the patch: swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x match_target=true \ -s /tmp/PHCO_8821.depot 5b. For a homogeneous NFS Diskless cluster run swcluster on the server to install the patch on the server and the clients: swcluster -i -b This will invoke swcluster in the interactive mode and force all clients to be shut down. WARNING: All cluster clients must be shut down prior to the patch installation. Installing the patch while the clients are booted is unsupported and can lead to serious problems. The swcluster command will invoke an swinstall session in which you must specify: alternate root path - default is /export/shared_root/OS_700 source depot path - /tmp/PHCO_8821.depot To complete the installation, select the patch by choosing "Actions -> Match What Target Has" and then "Actions -> Install" from the Menubar. 5c. By default swinstall will archive the original software in /var/adm/sw/patch/PHCO_8821.
