Patch Name: PHCO_21087 Patch Description: s700_800 10.20 cumulative patch for patch(1) Creation Date: 00/03/23 Post Date: 00/04/12 Hardware Platforms - OS Releases: s700: 10.20 s800: 10.20 Products: N/A Filesets: OS-Core.CMDS-AUX Automatic Reboot?: No Status: General Release Critical: No Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700_800/10.X/PHCO_21087 Symptoms: PHCO_21087: When a diff file of zero lines of context is applied to a file, patch(1) dumps core with an "Assertion failed" error. When the reverse diff of zero lines of context is applied to a file, patch command reports "Unexpected end of hunk" error. PHCO_16399: patch(1) dumps core with the message - 1. "Assertion failed: fillsrc==p_end+1 || fillsrc==repl_beginning, file pch.c, line 644" when a context diff file is applied to it. Defect Description: PHCO_21087: The diff file of zero lines of context is not interpreted correctly because of the missing conditions. This particular case was not considered in the previous patch. So, the errors are reported in case of patching a file with zero lines of context diff. Resolution: More conditions are added to make sure that the diff file of zero lines of context is interpreted correctly and patching is done appropriately. PHCO_16399: patch(1) dumps core when a context diff file is applied to the command due to the incorrect handling of fillsrc count.
