Patch Name: PHCO_18031 Patch Description: s700_800 10.20 eucKR<->UCS2/UTF8 iconv converter table fix Creation Date: 99/03/24 Post Date: 99/05/06 Hardware Platforms - OS Releases: s700: 10.20 s800: 10.20 Products: N/A Filesets: International.KOREAN Automatic Reboot?: No Status: General Release Critical: No Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700_800/10.X/PHCO_18031 Symptoms: PHCO_18031: The currently supplied Korean iconv converter tables are non-conformant to the Unicode 2.0, ISO-10646 and Korean national standard KSC-5700. The Unicode mappings contained in the tables are not supported by any other vendor and are considered obsolete by ISO-10646 and Unicode Consortium. As is, it is impossible to share data with other Unicode-aware systems, such as NT, which is standards conformant. Defect Description: PHCO_18031: The Korean iconv converter tables to convert between eucKRand UCS-2/UTF-8 incorrectly map to the old Unicode 1.1 standard. Currently 4,306 Hangul characters are incorrectly mapped in the region 0x3D2E through 0x4DFF. In the Unicode 2.0 specification, these characters have been removed and replace with 11,172 Hangul characters defined in the 0xAC00 - 0xD7FF region. Tables affected are the eucKR=ucs2 and ucs2=eucKR. Resolution: They should align to the Unicode 2.0 specification which also aligns with the Korean national standard: KSC-5700.
