Patch Name: PHCO_17710 Patch Description: s700_800 10.10 Year 2000 nroff(1) cumulative patch Creation Date: 99/02/22 Post Date: 99/03/12 Hardware Platforms - OS Releases: s700: 10.10 s800: 10.10 Products: N/A Filesets: TextFormatters.TEXT-FMT Automatic Reboot?: No Status: General Release Critical: No Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700_800/10.X/PHCO_17710 Symptoms: PHCO_17710: nroff -ms option appends the year field to "19" causing a 6 digit year output. This is due to a hardcoded "19" in the file tmac.s. PHCO_15187: - Three digit year displayed starting year 2000. - garbage in buffer PHCO_9456: man(1) aborts because nroff(1) dumps core when the TMPDIR env variable is set to a value greater than 8 characters. Defect Description: PHCO_17710: Since the file tmac.s had a hardcoded "19", the year field with the -ms option was getting appended to 19. The harcoded "19" has now been taken out and now there are no problems with the year field output with the -ms option. Resolution: The hardcoded "19" has now been taken out from the file tmac.s This was present as nroff(1) used to give the year field in 2 digits, nroff(1) has now been changed to give out the year field in 4 digits. After installation of the patch, nroff -ms gives the correct year PHCO_15187: Year displayed at year 2020 was "120". 1900 is added to display the real four digit year. PHCO_9456: man(1) aborts because nroff(1) dumps core when the TMPDIR variable is set to a value greater than 8 characters.
