Patch Name: PHCO_15429 Patch Description: s700_800 10.10 at(1) and cron(1M) Y2K and cumulative patch Creation Date: 98/05/26 Post Date: 98/06/15 Warning: 98/07/10 - This Critical Warning has been issued by HP. - Patch PHCO_15429 introduces problems with at(1), batch(1), and cron(1M). - The version of cron(1M) in the patch does not execute at(1) and batch(1) jobs properly. The jobs will be initialized correctly and the cron log shows that the jobs have terminated successfully, but the jobs are not executed. - The version of cron(1M) in the patch also fails to mail standard output and standard error to the user for any jobs submitted via at(1), batch(1), or crontab(1). Jobs that redirect standard output or standard error to a log file may receive extraneous output in the output log. - HP recommends that this patch be removed from any system that utilizes at(1) or batch(1) jobs, and from any system that requires cron(1M) to mail output to users. The patch should also be removed from any SD-UX depots. - Patch PHCO_15229 will be re-released until a replacement patch is available. For a homogeneous NFS Diskless cluster run swcluster on the server to install the patch on the server and the clients: swcluster -i -b This will invoke swcluster in the interactive mode and force all clients to be shut down. WARNING: All cluster clients must be shut down prior to the patch installation. Installing the patch while the clients are booted is unsupported and can lead to serious problems. The swcluster command will invoke an swinstall session in which you must specify: alternate root path - default is /export/shared_root/OS_700 source depot path - /tmp/PHCO_15429.depot To complete the installation, select the patch by choosing "Actions -> Match What Target Has" and then "Actions -> Install" from the Menubar. 5c.
