Patch Name: PHSS_14404 Patch Description: s700 10.10 Cumulative Online Diagnostic Tools Patch Creation Date: 98/05/07 Post Date: 98/05/19 Warning: 99/04/14 - This Non-Critical Warning has been issued by HP. - PHSS_14404 will not work correctly when applied to any Support Tool Manager (STM) diagnostic system release with an STM version of B.10.10.08, or greater. If PHSS_14404 is applied to STM version B.10.10.08, or greater, the diagnostic system will have been regressed in lost features or functionality. It may also cause other programs such as Predictive to not work correctly. - PHSS_14404 does work correctly when applied to STM versions lower than B.10.10.08. - To determine the version of STM on the system, follow these steps: 1. Type 'swlist -l product Sup-Tool-Mgr-700'. 2. Read the STM version in the center of the line. - If the installed version of STM is lower than B.10.10.08, no further action is required. If the installed version of STM is B.10.10.08 or greater AND PHSS_14404 is installed, please follow these steps to correct the Support Tool Manager diagnostic system: 1. Reinstall the Support Tool Manger software from your HP-UX Diagnostic/Independent Product Release (IPR) media using the command: swinstall -s \ -x autoreboot=true -x reinstall=true Sup-Tool-Mgr-700 Please note that STM versions B.10.10.08 and greater will be on the HP-UX Diagnostic/Independent Product Release media dated June 1998 or later. 2. Execute the cleanup(1M) utility to remove references to PHSS_14404, since it has been overwritten by the reinstallation of the Support Tool Manager software, using the command: cleanup -i If the cleanup utility is not present, it can be obtained through patch PHCO_12140. When the cleanup utility asks if you wish to remove overwritten patches from the IPD, reply "yes". Please review the man page for the cleanup utility for additional details. - A new patch, PHSS_17885, has been released to avoid this problem in the future. PHSS_17885 provides the same functionality as PHSS_14404, but includes a checkinstall script that prevents the patch from loading on any STM version B.10.10.08 or greater. - In addition to the actions above, HP also recommends that PHSS_14404 be removed from all software depots and that it be replaced by PHSS_17885. This will reduce the possibility of additional systems being exposed to these problems in the future. When the memory log is displayed via LOGTOOL, right after MEMLOGP starts, the PDT error address is incorrect and other pertinent info will be mostly unknown. b. In cases where PDT table has been reset by PDC, and there are no entries added to the table, MEMLOGP's memory log will always be cleared every time MELOGP is restarted. This problem is in systems with page deallocation support: Emerald and Hawks. 22. SCSI Dar does not support Multiple LUN access. 23. Add recognition of EISA FDDI driver. No tools supported. 24. This problem has not been observed. 25. When a command file run from xstm encounters an error, xstm dies with the message Error: XtCreatePopupShell requires non-NULL parent 26. When mstm is run on a terminal window which has more than 80 columns available, mstm will randomly exit with a 203 exit status. 27. Added recognition/support for new hardware: Toshiba CD-ROM XM-5701TA 28. This change provides support for 6 new additional sense codes (ASC) returned by the HPC5447A disk array. sense data, is currently incorrect. This patch will correct this condition. 29. Extra character is displayed at the end of the firmware revision string in the "Describe" command output in scsi_dds expert tool. 33. Add C1557A DDS-3 autoloader support in both scsi_lib expert and fw update tools. 34. CPU exerciser terminated with incomplete status after about 20 minutes of execution. The termination message indicated out of file descriptor resource. 35. Memory exerciser terminated with incomplete status on a system with large amount of physical memory. The termination message indicated that the program was unable to allocate memory using sbrk() system call. 36. Added new expert modules: scsi_disk, scsi_mo, and scsi_floppy. 37. Artist in Ultralights with HVERSIONS of 5a0-5a3, 512 and 513 will not be recognized. 38. The STM Information Tool (ara_info), Firmware Update Tool (ara_fw), and Expert Tool (ara_ex) for the HP AutoRAID disk array (HPC3586A) will not exist, nor will the STM SCSI Array Identification Module (scsi_arry). During a Rescan Hardware command (System->Rescan HW), STM will not recognize the AutoRAID disk array as a disk array, but will recognize it as separate SCSI disk drives. The number of disk drives will depend on the number of LUNs configured for the AutoRAID array. 39. Add STM PSI diagnostic. 40. Modem status is not valid only for Armyknife card when running STM X25 diagnostics + internal problems PHSS_7585: 1. a. In 9000/710 systems, SYSMAP and MEMDIAG report the memory size of the 2nd set of 4 SIMMs incorrectly. It reports the 2nd set of SIMMs to be of the same size as the 1st set even though it is different. b. Alita memory, on slot 1 will show in SYSMAP and MEMDIAG as bank 1 instead of bank 0. 2. The diagnostic I/O extension module called Harraymon may no be launched when many I/O events from the Nike disk array are logged quickly. Sometimes processes will be left behind and are not cleaned up until the diagnostic system is restarted. 3. Diagnostic programs terminates with the following error message on systems where root and dump are LVM, but swap is not: *** DIAGNOSTIC MONITOR COULD NOT GRANT ACCESS TO A DEVICE DUE TO FAILURE RETURNED FROM THE DIAGNOSTIC LIBRARY ROUTINE obtain_dev_type(DSSERR 667) *** A SYSTEM DEPENDENT INTERNAL ERROR WAS ENCOUNTERED. (DSSERR 5002) *** AN ERROR WAS RETURNED BY THE DIAGNOSTIC MONITOR IN RESPONSE TO A REQUEST TO OBTAIN ACCESS TO PDEV (0/12). (DSSERR 660) *** THE SPECIFIED DEVICE COULD NOT BE ALLOCATED FOR TESTING (DSSERR 2146) The "help pdev" command with sysdiag also fails with the following error message. *** A SYSTEM DEPENDENT INTERNAL ERROR WAS ENCOUNTERED. (DSSERR 5002) *** UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE IDENTITY OF PDEV (0/12). FURTHER HELP INFORMATION CANNOT BE OBTAINED. (DUIERR 372) 4. Support tools running on SCSI Fast/Wide devices will fail if scsi3 driver Davis code is ported to 10.10 release which only allows even-byte data transfers. (This is still a plan but will possibly materialize. There is no problem if scsi3 driver remains the same). 5. Various fixes in STM scsi disk info tool: a. a hardware failure does not get a red icon b. Some Quantum disks behave strangely (can hang the bus) while tool is trying to obtain error logs. c. Also deleted support for CDROM and Floppy because of a new srm_disk info tool. (Refer to another patch form for the new srm_disk info tool). 6. No MO and Floppy disks support in Support Tools information module. 7. Current version of cstm in HPUX 10.10 can not read from stdin or write to stdout. So cstm will ignore input piped to it from the shell and the shell can not read any output from cstm. This patch will allow the user to pipe/redirect input to cstm and pipe/redirect output from cstm. 8. Enhancement in Support Tools diagnose scsi_dlt module. 9. a. The error rate computed in the Maximum Coverage test of the diag_dds diagnose tool does not reflect the correct rate for threshold determination. b. Running the diag_dds diagnose tool with more than one iteration and no user queries option fails with "Aborted Command" failure message. c. Enhancement to error decoding algorithm. 10. a. User is prompted each time upon tool start-up to enter the file name for the trace logs output. This make starting up the scsi_dds expert tool a cumbersome process. b. The "Channel Hang" flag in the EEPROM log can be either a bit flag or a byte flag depending on the EEPROM log format on the device. Currently, scsi_dds displays the "Channel Hang" flag as a byte format for both. 11. The "Help" command in the cstm interface for scsi_dds, scsi_dlt and scsi_lib expert tools do not work. 12. This patch contains the STM diagnostic support of the J2804A HP ATM adapter card. This card is delivered with the software product J2805AA. 13. 14. When user ran the disk verifier on a SCSI (TEAC) floppy drive, the tool would return incomplete status and report that the disk was not supported by the disk verifier. 15. The graphics tools will hang when they are run on a system which is booted under CDE when no-one is logged into the console 16. The graphics exerciser will exit with a status of INCOMPLETE when run on a VISUALIZE-IVX (Hyperdrive with an IMACC) with a video out card. The exerciser will put the following message in the information log: Could not find device name and driver match. Device name=HPA4070B_VI Driver=hphcrx Setting crcs to 0 Setting features to 0 The device name could be HPA4070B_VI or HPA4071B_VI. 17. Downloading firmware files which are wrapped produces an error in SCSIDSK2. 18. a. Added SYSMAP/MEMMAP change for printing slot pairs information. b. Added IBMDORS-32160 2GB embedded disk c. Corrected some Quantum 2/4/9GB product numbers. d. Added identification support for Andronicus DDS HPC1539A. 19. When a user runs the information tool and then wants to look at the structure information log, they will get the addressses to the malloced space, not real device data. 20. Bug causes an overwriting of four bytes with unexpected data in the library IPC routine. PHSS_7071: 1. The caller of access_pdc will panic thesystem,if one of the arguments it does not use just happens to be -1. 2. Added support for 2GB, 4GB, 9GB disks: QUANTUM XP32181WD, QUANTUM XP34361S, QUANTUM XP34361WD, QUANTUM XP39100WD, SEAGATE ST19171WD, SEAGATE ST32151N, SEAGATE ST32171WD, SEAGATE ST34371N, SEAGATE ST34371WD, CONNER CFP2117WD, CONNER CFP4217S, CONNER CFP4217WD, CONNER CFP9217WD, FUJITSU M1622S, FUJITSU M2932R, FUJITSU M2934R,FUJITSU M2934S, FUJITSU M2949R 3. Execution of the lobotomize command in SARRAY doesn't issue properinstructions when user intervention is required. 4. Bundled enhancements and upgrades for the HARRAY diagnostic, including: a. Scsi verify capability for individual mechs. b. Peer SP detection prior to mech firmware downloads. c. Erroneous reporting of peer SP presence. d. Auto Trespass state reported. e. Additional Nike status codes recognized. 5. On an HP9000/755 (hversion 205) and an HP9000/735 (hversion 206), the MEMMAP selection from SYSMAP displaysincorrect information regarding the system memory configuration. 6. Status cmd in DTDUTIL keeps previousproduct number after invalid pdev. Also can result in some instances of an invalid status return from a device. 7. Add's support for HPC1113F mo drive, and HPC1160F autochanger. 8. If a device goes 'hung', the cstm waitcommand stops waiting for the tool running on this device to complete. The 'hung' state does not necessarily mean that anything is wrong other than that the system is busy. When a user disables queries in the diagnose, verify, and exercise options, there is no warning about the dangers that may result. In cstm, after the user answers a query from a non- interactive tool, they do not get re-prompted for whatever they were originally prompted for before the query occurred. A RETURN needed to be hit to get a new prompt, which may not be obvious to the user. Certain interactive tools can invoke a data corruption in cstm. Garbled messages or a cstm crash can occur. There is no check to verify that the UI is compatible with the UUT. New UIs are compatible with old UUTs, but the converse is not true. 9. MSTM Disabled keys are blank Keys are updated to first level when map is updated Selecting go-to-link key without a link selected can cause a segmentation violation Scrolling down on a dialog which is larger than 1 page can cause the dialog to disappear Platform ESTALE on read of uut_status causes UUT disconnect when running on NFS diskless clients Corrupt uut_status after system crash causes diagmond to not come up Setting wait_for_done flag on programmatic interface routine to start a tool did not work Default timeout values for staring tools and tools going hung were too small SCSI Floppy and graphics devices were unsupported Tools Graphics devices were unrecognized 10. STM disk download tool will not work for disks on S800 systems where download file size is over 262195 bytes. The fix is to allow up to 262411 bytes of transfer. 11. As a result of this problem the Memory exerciser will appear to be hung and does not appear to complete execution. 12. As a result of this problem the CPU exerciser will appear to be hung and does not appear to complete execution. 13. For disks with exactly 1G, 2G or nG size, the disk exercise test will terminate with error when the write reached the end of the disk. 14. a. The graphics exerciser would exit with a status of INCOMPLETE, giving no message indicating why it exited. b. When running on HCRX and VISUALIZE-48 graphics boards, the graphics exerciser would intermittently get a 1207 RAMDAC id error. c. After running for a long time (more than 18 hours), the graphics exerciser would get a segmentation violation. 15. Added support for Alita Memory. 16. No STM SCSI DLT Tape Diagnose Tool support. 17. No STM SCSI DLT Tape Expert Tool support. 18. No STM SCSI Tape F/W Update Tool support. 19. Some tools which uses the tlscsidev IO may incorrectly get a timoeout failure from the DAR. 20. During fault isolation, an incorrect chip id is returned by MEMLOGP/LOGTOOL and MEMDIAG for Alita and 2x memory boards. 21. For STM tape tools, if the device returns an unsuccessful status yet returns data, the tools do not get this data back. 22. No STM SCSI Library Expert tool support. 23. No STM SCSI Library Firmware Update Tool support. 24. The Support Tool Manager crashes when local environment variables LANG, LC_MESSAGES or LC_ALL are set to something other than "C". 25. Added support for two disks: Seagate ST32171N, Seagate ST19171N. 26. SYSMAP/CPUMAP and SYSMAP/MODMAP will show incorrect information if an EISA card is installed in the system. 27. Added support for cio_card and hpib_dev identify tool in STM s700. 28. CPU Exerciser exiting with warning on multi-cpu system on Dart28. 29. No STM SCSI DDS Expert tool support. 30. No STM SCSI DDS Tape Diagnose Tool support. 31. No STM ATM Card Diagnose Tool support. PHSS_6796: 1. QUANTUMFIREBALL1050S, SEAGATEST31051N, and SEAGATEST51080N 1 GB disks are not supported at the time of release. Defect Description: PHSS_14404: 1. Initialization of the parameters by the callers of PDC dar was inconsistent. If the right number of parameters were not initialized and passed to the PDC dar, a system panic could occur. 2. Incorrect mapping of error code to catalog message results in a negative message catalog number. This causes the UI to fail and kills the main tool window. The failure occurs when running selftests under the DDS expert tool and device encounters a selftest failure. 3. The memory decode module was not supplying the correct information. The user would see the problem everytime the Information tool or Logtool is used to view memory errors. 4. Enhancements for the memory dar and memory were added for Emerald/Jade SPUs. This included Dar enhancement to improve memory controller slot identification when master add identifyable. The Memory Information module enhanced to provide block ID information for configuration and error entries. PHSS_12282: 1. New expert tool added. 2. Support for new products. 3. New information module added. 4. Added support for new firmware update tool. 5. Not enough memory allocated in data array definition causing data overrun. 6. The page deallocation routine in the Memory Access Routine library was passing the wrong parameter to PDC. 7. New MSTM features. 8. Enhancements to the Logtool. 9. Added new Scsi tape qualifier entry. PHSS_8587: 1. Additional functionality. 2. The program wasn't designed to handle firmware files larger than 256KB. 3. Kernal changes were needed to allow tlidsector to work on 10.20. These changes were not made to 10.01 and there currently are no plans to patch the 10.01's kernel to support tlidsector. 4. The "not implemented" status condition was introduce late. 5. Running DDS Information tool will return incorrect compression data in Information Log. 6. Additional functionality. 7. Additional functionality. 8. Remove un-needed log page. 9. No support for scsi_cd expert tool. 10. When parsing the Xscreens file, the graphics exerciser did not look for device files that were part of a single logical screen. 11. The products were not supported product at the time of release. 12. To get around PDC F/W problem. 13. This is a new feature added. 14. Earlier only driver "fcpmux" was scanned by STM (which happens to be entry related to the SCSI card in the MUX) but now, if no scsi cards are present, "fcpdev" is used to talk to the MUX. 15. Additional functionality. 16. Additional functionality. 17. Additional functionality. 18. Additional functionality. 19. With HP-UX 10.01 the disk array is not recognized and there are no tools for it in the 10.10 or 10.01 release. There has been some format changes for the 10.20 release in 10.20 20. Need to use "#ifndef/#endif _TLSCSIDEV_INCLUDED" clause. 21. a. PDT error address is being divided by 8 in access_mem(). b. The RESET CLEAR FLAG option in PDC_MEM must be called whenever the PDT table gets cleared. MEMLOGP only does this when there are entries in the PDT. 22. SCSI Dar modified to support Multiple LUN access for disks. 23. Additional functionality. 24. A core dump could possibly occur due to this problem, although none has been observed, due to referencing an invalid structure in memory. 25. The problem can occur when the user explicitly runs a command file with an error in it, or when there is an error in the startup script .stmrc or in the startup configuration file config.stm. 26. Coding error. 27. Toshiba CD-ROM XM-5701TA is new, previously unsupported, hardware. 28. The problem is caused by a defect in the code which returns an incorrect address in the SCSI sense data. If an error is generated by an AutoRAID device, the address returned with the SCSI sense data will be in error. This patch will correct this condition. 29. ldev command previously non-fundtional for NIO driver attached devices. 30. Read command failure during Section 10 Read Compare processing was not being properly reported. 31. These drives are DEC drives which utilitizes DEC specific algorithms for most operations, but since Quantum took over the division, have changed some functions to conform with ANSI SCSI specifications. 32. Firmware revision string was not terminated correctly. 33. Additional functionality. 34. The cause was the absent of a close() system call after the corresponding open() call. Therefore, it ran out of file descriptor resource after 10 to 20 minutes of continuous execution. 35. The cause was the incorrect interpretation of ulimit (UL_GETMAXBRK) value. As a result the program was attempting to allocate more than the per process data limit. When that happened, the system returned ENOMEM on sbrk() system call. This problem can be found on system with large amount of memory(e.g. more than 100M). 36. These modules missed the 10.10 release. 37. Additional functionality. 38. Added support for HPC3586A disk array. 39. The STM PSI diagnostic does not exist previously in STM platform. 40. Coding errors. PHSS_7585: 1. a. Possibly a typo error in xiomem.c b. Incorrect logical bank mapping in xiomemhk.c 2. The diagnostic monitor sets limits for the number of concurrent I/O logging extension modules launch and a separate limit for the number launched per address. These limits were too low for the Nike drive. The limits have been increases to 20 max concurrent I/O logging extension modules and a max of 10 for each address. 3. The diagnostic library routine obtain_dev_type was not taking into account the output from lvlnboot. The code was expecting "Swap: ". Potential change in the scsi3 driver for 10.10 release. 5. Incorrect code handling the above problems. 6. The products were not supported product at the time of release. 7. This is caused because cstm did not support reading from stdin or writing to stdout in the HPUX 10.10 release. It is supported in the HPUX 10.20 release. The user will see this problem when expecting to pipe/redirect input to cstm or pipe/redirect output from cstm. 8. Enhancement to the error decoding algorithm in the module. 9. a. Formula used in calculating the error rate is incorrect. b. When the "no user queries allowed" option is set and the diagnose tool is set to run more than one iteration, the tool will attempt to run tests which requires media not be present even when media is loaded causing an "Aborted command" error. c. Enhancement to the error decoding algorithm in the module. 10. a. Enhancement to trace log dump operation. Initial dump of trace logs will always write to default temporary file. User will not be prompted for the output file name with the "initial" dump of the trace logs upon start-up. User will still be prompted for the output file name when the trace logs dump is executed on demand by the user. b. Fix "Channel Hang" EEPROM log message display format to correctly display either a bit or byte setting depending on the EEPROM log format on the device. 11. Entering "Help" in the SCSI tape and library expert tools in cstm will give error message. The SCSI tape and library expert tools used "GeneralHelp" instead of "Help" as the help command. Tools fixed to use "Help" as the help command. 12. The products were not supported product at the time of release. 13. The products were not supported product at the time of release. 14. The cause of the problem was that the driver name "sflop" was not included in the verifier's checklist. 15. The problem here is that the tools and the mapping routines are using an ioctl GCDESCRIBE which is hanging when the system is booted CDE and no-one is logged on the console. 16. The products were not supported product at the time of release. 17. Wrapped firmware files were not supported. 18. This change is to support new memory. 19. The declaration of char pointers for the info_data data structure caused the problem. In this case, fixed size char array should be used. 20. Two kernel routines, msgsnd and msgrcv, are sent the size of a data structure (msgbuf type), along with the data structure. These routines then write/read "size" number of bytes into the data structure. The problem was that the routines expect the "size" to be four bytes less than the size of a msgbuf type structure. The "size" needs to be the size of the data portion of the structure, not the entire structure. PHSS_7071: 1. This problem is random, due to the root cause being uninitialize data space. 2. These changes are all to support new hardware. 3. The program was missing the code and instruction message for this command. 4. Enhancements in HARRAY. 5. In situations where obtaining access to a device fails, the product string was not being cleared. The result is the display of incorrect information when executing the "status" command. 6. In situations where obtaining access to a device fails, the product string was not being cleared. The result is the display of incorrect information when executing the "status" command. 7. The products were not supported product at the time of release. 8. The 'wait for hung' problem is due to an omission of 'hung' from the list of tool states which are waited for. This is only a problem when the 'wait' command is used in cstm and the system is busy. The interactive tool corruption problem can happen only when the cstm interface is used. The only tool which can invoke this problem is the disk firmware update tool. Due to added features in future versions of stm, an old UI may not work correctly with new versions of the UUT. Using an old UI with a UUT is not supported, but no warning is given. 9. Defects were introduced during development. 10. In STM, 255 bytes are being allocated for possible sense bytes. In Sherlock, only 40 bytes are allocated for sense bytes. If transfers are over 262195, allow up to 262411 which means that sensy bytes allocaton will go down to up to 40. 11. This problem occurs when there is no floating point coprocessor. 12. This problem occurs when there is no floating point coprocessor. 13. The cause of the problem is incorrect handling of the boundary condition. The symptom will only exhibit on disks which size is integral of 64K. 14. a. The graphics exerciser has to get the graphics device path from the X0screens file (found in /etc/X11). When there were entries in the X0screens file other than the 'Screen ' entry, the graphics exerciser would get confused when parsing the file, and get a bad device path. It would attempt to use the bad device path, and eventually the exerciser would make an X call with bad parameters. The X function would case the process to exit with a status that corresponded with the STM status of INCOMPLETE. b. In one section of the test, the graphics exerciser would attempt to read a value from the hardware right after another graphics process had performed several graphics operations. Because the graphics device was busy from the previous operations, the read timed out, and the graphics device returned incorrect data. c. There was a memory leak in a library. 15. To support new Alita Memory. 16. Initial support for STM SCSI DLT Tape Diagnose Tool. 17. Initial support for STM SCSI DLT Tape Expert Tool. 18. Initial support for STM SCSI Tape F/W Update Tool. 19. The timeout value to be passed to the driver has to be in milliseconds. The DAR has to do the conversion by multipying the value passed by the tools (in seconds) by 1000. However, the code only multiplies by 100. 20. Incorrect algorithm in current xiomemhk.c code for Alita and 2x memory. 21. The DAR does not return information that data was processed by the device if sense key is returned. 22. Initial support for STM SCSI Library expert tool. 23. Initial support for STM SCSI Library Firmware Update Tool. 24. When any of the environment variables LANG, LC_MESSAGES, or LC_ALL are set, and they are set to something other than "C", the Support Tool Manager (stm, xstm, mstm, and cstm) abort or fail to fully initialize and do not display a map.) 25. The new disks were not supported product at the time 10.10 was released. 26. EISA cards were being treated as PA-architected modules and they are not. 27. The two identify tools were missed in the release. 28. CPU exerciser was failing to close file descriptors. 29. Initial support for STM SCSI DDS expert tool. 30. Initial support for STM SCSI DDS diagnose tool. 31. Initial support for STM ATM Card Diagnose Tool. PHSS_6796: 1. QUANTUMFIREBALL1050S, SEAGATEST31051N, and SEAGATEST51080N 1 GB disks were not supported products at the time 10.10 was released. Dependencies: None Other Dependencies: None Supersedes: PHSS_6796 PHSS_7071 PHSS_7585 PHSS_8587 PHSS_12282 Equivalent Patches: None Patch Package Size: 24490 KBytes Installation Instructions: Please review all instructions and the Hewlett-Packard SupportLine User Guide or your Hewlett-Packard support terms and conditions for precautions, scope of license, restrictions, and, limitation of liability and warranties, before installing this patch. ------------------------------------------------------------ 1. Back up your system before installing a patch. 2. Login as root. 3. Copy the patch to the /tmp directory. 4. Move to the /tmp directory and unshar the patch: cd /tmp sh PHSS_14404 5a. For a standalone system, run swinstall to install the patch: swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x match_target=true \ -s /tmp/PHSS_14404.depot 5b. For a homogeneous NFS Diskless cluster run swcluster on the server to install the patch on the server and the clients: swcluster -i -b This will invoke swcluster in the interactive mode and force all clients to be shut down. WARNING: All cluster clients must be shut down prior to the patch installation. Installing the patch while the clients are booted is unsupported and can lead to serious problems. The swcluster command will invoke an swinstall session in which you must specify: alternate root path - default is /export/shared_root/OS_700 source depot path - /tmp/PHSS_14404.depot To complete the installation, select the patch by choosing "Actions -> Match What Target Has" and then "Actions -> Install" from the Menubar. 5c. For a heterogeneous NFS Diskless cluster: - run swinstall on the server as in step 5a to install the patch on the cluster server. - run swcluster on the server as in step 5b to install the patch on the cluster clients. By default swinstall will archive the original software in /var/adm/sw/patch/PHSS_14404. If you do not wish to retain a copy of the original software, you can create an empty file named /var/adm/sw/patch/PATCH_NOSAVE. Warning: If this file exists when a patch is installed, the patch cannot be deinstalled. Please be careful when using this feature. It is recommended that you move the PHSS_14404.text file to /var/adm/sw/patch for future reference. To put this patch on a magnetic tape and install from the tape drive, use the command: dd if=/tmp/PHSS_14404.depot of=/dev/rmt/0m bs=2k Special Installation Instructions: This patch eliminates the 'sysdiag' diagnostics system and replaces it with 'STM' diagnostics system. NOTE #1: If the system that you are updating contains 'Predictive' software then you must also load the Predictive software from DART 35 (IPR9710). Failure to load the new Predictive software will cause the older Predictive software to not work at all. NOTE #2: This patch will permanently remove 'sysdiag' from the system. If you deinstall this patch, 'sysdiag' must be reinstalled manually.
