Patch Name: PHKL_18748 Patch Description: s700 10.20 Return correct value for open() Creation Date: 99/06/07 Post Date: 99/06/11 Hardware Platforms - OS Releases: s700: 10.20 Products: N/A Filesets: OS-Core.CORE-KRN Automatic Reboot?: Yes Status: General Release Critical: Yes PHKL_18748: CORRUPTION Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700/10.X/PHKL_18748 Symptoms: PHKL_18748: ( SR: 5003425678 CR: JAGaa12820 ) When an open() system call is made on an NFS mount, it occasionally returns errno=0 and r_val1=0. Subsequent use of the file descriptor (FD) will return EBADF or unintentionally send data to STDIN (FD 0). Defect Description: PHKL_18748: ( SR: 5003425678 CR: JAGaa12820 ) The variable containing the return value for the open() system call (the file descriptor) can be incorrectly overwritten when the file being accessed is on NFS. Resolution: The return value is now saved and restored by copen() (called by open()) before returning.
