Patch Name: PHKL_17651 Patch Description: s700 10.20 softpower cumalative patch (ACE199906) Creation Date: 99/03/04 Post Date: 99/05/24 Hardware Platforms - OS Releases: s700: 10.20 Products: N/A Filesets: OS-Core.CORE-KRN Automatic Reboot?: Yes Status: General Release Critical: Yes PHKL_17651: ABORT Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700/10.X/PHKL_17651 Symptoms: PHKL_17651: This patch enables new functionality that is part of the 10.20 ACE (Additional Core Enhancements) Workstation bundle, which adds new I/O drivers to support the B1000, C3000, and J5000 systems. In particular this patch fixes a problem with control of the soft power switch. Without this patch, the softpower switch on the workstations listed above may malfunction. This could cause the workstation to reboot or fail to boot. Defect Description: PHKL_17651: New functionality to support the B1000, C3000, and J5000 systems on HP-UX 10.20. The pdc firmware call to PDC_SOFTPOWER(info) returns the address of the softpower switch flag but does not communicate with the 8051 controller. In the case where the controller does not respond or can not perform the requested task, we must restore the state of the softpower switch flag. Resolution: Restore the state of the softpower switch flag if the 8051 microcontroller does not respond.
