Patch Name: PHKL_16899 Patch Description: s700 10.20 cowcopyfrom now handles > 72 byte copies Creation Date: 98/11/11 Post Date: 98/11/25 Hardware Platforms - OS Releases: s700: 10.20 Products: N/A Filesets: OS-Core.CORE-KRN Automatic Reboot?: Yes Status: General Release Critical: Yes PHKL_16899: CORRUPTION Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700/10.X/PHKL_16899 Symptoms: PHKL_16899: ftp data corruption. When a file is received via ftp from a 10.20 server, the last few bytes received are not the same as in the file, i.e., last few bytes of the ftp'd file are corrupted. Defect Description: PHKL_16899: This problem was reported when the 10.20 server was connected to a router via NIO FDDI card and the server ARP table entry for the router was deleted. Moreover, the MTU for the router and the length of file to be ftp'd have to be such that the number of bytes in the last packet is greater than 72 and is not a multiple of 4. The customer had the MTU of 1479 and ftp was for a file of size 344064 bytes. The problem is caused by the cowcopyfrom() routine which returns without doing the copy if the length is greater than 72 bytes and is not a multiple of 4.
