Patch Name: PHKL_16897 Patch Description: s700 10.20 Flock Manager fix Creation Date: 98/11/10 Post Date: 98/12/18 Hardware Platforms - OS Releases: s700: 10.20 Products: N/A Filesets: OS-Core.CORE-KRN Automatic Reboot?: Yes Status: General Release Critical: Yes PHKL_16897: HANG Path Name: /hp-ux_patches/s700/10.X/PHKL_16897 Symptoms: PHKL_16897: SR:4701407684 DTS:JAGaa23006 User process may hang at reboot. Or spinlock deadlock may occure in MP system if Flock Manager was enabled. Defect Description: PHKL_16897: SR:4701407684 DTS:JAGaa23006 1. A user process in a flock with memory limit (provided by Flock Manager) can hang in generating a core file if it cannot get enough memory to finish the coredump. In this situation, it is possible that user commands (such as "ls") hang when they access to the current directory of the core dumping process or that reboot command cannot kill it(even with SIGKILL). A fix is to cancel the memory limit temporarily when a process is delivered some signal to handle. This fix is also applied to a process executing at exit and for a system process. 2. The fmp_lock of flkmgr_proc structure should be acquired flk_lock of flkmgr_flock structure. The real_flkmgr_trimming() and real_flkmgr_is_lock_proc() are fixed in this patch. For a standalone system, run swinstall to install the patch: swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x match_target=true \ -s /tmp/PHKL_16897.depot 5b. For a homogeneous NFS Diskless cluster run swcluster on the server to install the patch on the server and the clients: swcluster -i -b This will invoke swcluster in the interactive mode and force all clients to be shut down. WARNING: All cluster clients must be shut down prior to the patch installation. Installing the patch while the clients are booted is unsupported and can lead to serious problems. The swcluster command will invoke an swinstall session in which you must specify: alternate root path - default is /export/shared_root/OS_700 source depot path - /tmp/PHKL_16897.depot To complete the installation, select the patch by choosing "Actions -> Match What Target Has" and then "Actions -> Install" from the Menubar. 5c.
