Dear SCO Customer, Support Level Supplement (SLS) PTF7129A, the make(1M) Supplement for UnixWare 7.0.0, 7.0.1, and 7.1.0, addresses the problem where the make command dumped core when attempting an installation or relink of a large application. SLS PTF7129A provides a replacement make(1M) binary for the UnixWare/OpenServer Development Kit (UDK) 7.0.0 and 7.1.0, as well as for the UnixWare 7.0.0, 7.0.1, and 7.1.0 operating systems. Rather than increasing BUFF_BASE, the make command will now check for buffer overflow and reallocate yytext if it is too small to hold the input text. SLS PTF7129A contains: /usr/ccs/bin/make Software Notes and Recommendations ---------------------------------- SLS PTF7129A should only be installed on: UnixWare 7.0.0, 7.0.1, 7.1.0 Although the UDK can be used on various SCO operating systems, SLS PTF7129A should not be installed on any systems other than those listed above. Installation Instructions ------------------------- 1. Download the ptf7129a.Z file to the /tmp directory on your machine. 2. As root, uncompress the file and add the SLS package to your system using these commands: $ su Password: # uncompress /tmp/ptf7129a.Z # pkgadd -d /tmp/ptf7129a # rm /tmp/ptf7129a 3. There is no need to reboot the system after installing this SLS package. The release notes displayed prior to installation can be found in: /var/sadm/pkg/ptf7129/install/ptf7129.txt Removal Instructions -------------------- 1. As root, remove the SLS package using these commands: $ su Password: # pkgrm ptf7129 2. There is no need to reboot the system after removing this SLS package.
