Dear SCO Customer, Support Level Supplement (SLS) PTF7079B, the UnixWare 7.0.1 Replacement dlpi Driver, addresses the problem of panics seen in the mdi_message() due to the system receiving a packet from the network before the dlpid has rebuilt the network daemon stream. The dlpid will decide to restart the network daemon if it detects that it has hung. However, the system can receive a packet from the network before the dlpid has rebuilt the network daemon, resulting in a panic. SLS PTF7079B provides a new dlpi driver that does not allow packets to be received prior to the network stream being in place. Panics seen in the mdi_message() can include: PANIC: kernel-mode address fault on user address 0x00000000 Kernel Page fault from (cs:eip) = (00000100:(75C61C3)): eax=00000000 ebx=C3159240 ecx=00000000 edx=00A407C7 esi=C187AA40 edi=C334F580 ebp=0000001C esp=C87D878C Debugger: eax: 0 ebx: C3159240 ecx: 0 edx: 00A407C7 elf: 110246 esi:C187AA40 edi: C334F480 ebp: 1C esp:C87D878C mdi_message+123: cmpl $0X00, 0X34(%eax) SLS PTF7079B also addresses this panic which may occur when using an Intel Pro100+ Nic card: Kernel-mode address fault at ip_sendctl+43 SLS PTF7079B contains this file: /etc/conf/pack.d/dlpi/Driver.o Software Notes and Recommendations ---------------------------------- SLS PTF7079B should only be installed on: UnixWare 7.0.1 Installation Instructions ------------------------- 1.
