Dear SCO Customer, Support Level Supplement (SLS) PTF7071A, the UnixWare 7.0.0 io Driver Patch corrects a problem where, if a system with more than 4Gb of physical memory is configured to use the memory above 4Gb, there may be random memory corruption. This is due to the way 36-bit physical addresses are handled in the io driver. SLS PTF7071A contains a replacement io driver. Note: For systems running UnixWare 7.0.1, this solution is provided by SLS PTF7038C, the UnixWare 7.0.1 Patch for Multiple Drivers, Autopush, and Header Files. SLS PTF7071A contains the following files: /etc/conf/pack.d/io/Driver_atup.o /etc/conf/pack.d/io/Driver_mp.o The release notes displayed prior to installation can be found in: /var/sadm/pkg/ptf7071/install/ptf7071.txt Software Notes and Recommendations ---------------------------------- The SLS package PTF7071A should only be installed on: UnixWare 7.0.0 with the UnixWare 7 Release Supplement (uw7rs) Installation Instructions ------------------------- 1. Download the ptf7071a.Z and ptf7071a.txt files to the /tmp directory on your machine. 2. As root, uncompress the file and add the SLS package to your system using these commands: $ su Password: # uncompress /tmp/ptf7071a.Z # pkgadd -d /tmp/ptf7071a # rm /tmp/ptf7071a 3. Reboot the system after installing this SLS package. Removal Instructions -------------------- 1. As root, remove the SLS package using these commands: $ su Password: # pkgrm ptf7071 2.
