Dear SCO Customer,

SLS PTF7021B corrects an NFS issue where some files are being silently
ignored when a collection of files is copied from an NFS server to a
client.  /var/adm/syslog may show the following errors:

  unix: xdr_mblk: long crosses mblks!
  unix: last message repeated 85 times
  unix: xdr_bool: decode FAILED
  unix: NFS readdir failed for server rodin: RPC: Can't decode

This SLS provides fixes to the kernel RPC driver (rpc) of UnixWare 7 to
allow for files to be successfully copied from an NFS server to a client.

PTF7021B addresses an issue where attempting to install SLS PTF7021A 
resulted in an incomplete installation of the patch.  SLS PTF7021B supersedes
PTF7021A.


Software Notes and Recommendations
----------------------------------

PTF7021B should only be installed on UnixWare 7.0.0 with the Release
Supplement (uw7rs) applied.

Running the command:

    # uname -sv

will return "UnixWare 7" if this release is installed.

To find if the SCO UnixWare 7 Release Supplement is installed,
run the command:

    # pkginfo | grep uw7rs

If the Release Supplement is installed this command will return
"patch uw7rs uw7rs - SCO UnixWare 7 Release Supplement".


Hardware Notes and Recommendations
----------------------------------

This package is intended for i486, Pentium, Pentium Pro, Pentium II,
and compatible CPUs.


Installation Instructions
-------------------------

1. Download the ptf7021b.Z and ptf7021b.txt files to the /tmp directory
   on your machine.

2. As root, uncompress the file and add the package to your system using
   these commands:

    $ su
    # uncompress /tmp/ptf7021b.Z
    # pkgadd -d /tmp/ptf7021b

A system reboot is REQUIRED following installation of this SLS
in order for the changes to take effect.


Removal Instructions
---------------------

As root, remove the package using this command:

    pkgrm ptf7021
