Dear SCO Customer, Support Level Supplement (SLS) PTF7018A, the UnixWare 7 memsize Patch, contains a modified memsize(1M) command. This version of the memsize command is able to report the memory size of system dumps that are bigger than 2GB. Previously, the memsize command couldn't report the memory size of a system dump bigger than 2GB. Therefore, the ldsysdump(1M) command, which uses memsize, could not handle a system dump bigger than 2GB. SLS PTF7018A contains modifications to this UnixWare 7 package: Base System (base) If you are preparing to install this package, discontinue the installation of PTF7018A, install this package first, and then install PTF7018A. Note whether or not this package is affected by this SLS. If you later install this package on your system, you must reinstall PTF7018A to get the fixes for this package. Notes on the fixes included in this SLS can be found on the FTP server or, after its installation, in: /var/sadm/pkg/ptf7018/install/ptf7018.txt Software Notes and Recommendations ---------------------------------- SLS PTF7018A should only be installed on: UnixWare 7 with the UnixWare 7 Release Supplement (uw7rs) applied To find out what release your system is running, use the command: # uname -sv The command will return "UnixWare 7" if this release is installed. To determine if the UnixWare 7 Release Supplement is installed, run the command: # pkginfo | grep uw7rs If the Release Supplement is installed, this command will return "patch uw7rs uw7rs - SCO UnixWare 7 Release Supplement." Testing of the modified software contained in this SLS has been conducted only to the extent necessary to confirm that it resolves the problem(s) stated above. Such testing consists of re-creating the problem conditions (typically in a SCO test laboratory) and verifying that the problem no longer occurs. No other testing of this software has been done.
