Dear SCO Customer, Support Level Supplement (SLS) PTF7012B, the UnixWare 7 Snmp Supplement, contains a replacement in.snmpd for UnixWare 7. SLS PTF7012B corrects a problem where the snmp daemon (snmpd) may exit abnormally with a "parse authentication error" when receiving a badly formed packet. It also corrects a problem with several MIB2 fields containing incorrect information. Software Notes and Recommendations ---------------------------------- SLS PTF7012B should only be installed on: UnixWare 7.0.0 Installation Instructions ------------------------- 1. Become root and create a new directory by typing the following: $ su (Password: ) # mkdir /tmp/pkg # chmod 700 /tmp/pkg # cd /tmp/pkg 2. Download the ptf7012b.Z and the ptf7012b.txt files to the newly created /tmp/pkg directory on your machine. 3. Read the Release Notes contained in the ptf7012b.txt file. 4. Add the SLS to your system using the following commands: # zcat /tmp/pkg/ptf7012b.Z | pkgadd -d - Alternately, you can uncompress the SLS and install it as follows: # uncompress ptf7012b.Z # pkgadd -d /tmp/pkg/ptf7012b 5. Shut down and reboot the system after installing SLS PTF7012B. Note: A system reboot is required following installation of this SLS for the kernel sections to take effect. However, if you have not already installed any other SLS that your need, you should do so before rebooting. Removal Instructions -------------------- 1. Become root and remove the SLS by typing these commands: $ su (Password: ) # pkgrm ptf7012 2. Shut down and reboot the system after removing SLS PTF7012B.
