Dear SCO Customer, Support Level Supplement (SLS) PTF7011, the UnixWare 7 DLPI Update Supplement, contains a new dlpi driver. This new driver corrects problems of system panics that may occur when an XID LLC frame with a NULL DSAP is received or when the DLS user closes the stream while a pass-through ioctl is pending. SLS PTF7011 corrects problems in the Network Adapter Drivers (nics) package in UnixWare 7. This package must be installed prior to installing SLS PTF7011. Software Notes and Recommendations ---------------------------------- PTF7011 should only be installed on these releases: UnixWare 7 UnixWare 7 with UnixWare 7 Release Supplement (uw7rs) applied Running the command: $ uname -sv will return "UnixWare 7" if this release is installed. Running the command: $ pkginfo | grep uw7rs will return "patch uw7rs uw7rs - SCO UnixWare 7 Release Supplement" if the Release Supplement is installed. Hardware Notes and Recommendations ---------------------------------- This package is intended for i486, Pentium, Pentium Pro, Pentium II, and compatible CPUs. Installation Notes ------------------ SLS PTF7011 corrects problems in the following package in UnixWare 7: Network Adapter Drivers (nics) If you are about to install this package, quit this PTF7011 installation, install those packages first, and then install this SLS. If the dlpi module is already incorporated into the link kit on your system, a system reboot will be REQUIRED following installation of this PTF. If the dlpi module is not incorporated into the link kit, the file /etc/inst/nd/dlpi/Driver.o will be updated with the new driver contained in this PTF but a system reboot will not be required. IMPORTANT: Note which packages are affected by this SLS. If you later install any of these packages on your system, you must reinstall this SLS to get the fixes for those packages. Installation Instructions ------------------------- 1. Download the ptf7011.s and ptf7011.txt files to the /tmp directory on your machine. 2. As root, uncompress the file and add the package to your system using these commands: $ su # uncompress /tmp/ptf7011.Z # pkgadd -d /tmp/ptf7011 3. A system reboot MAY be required following installation of this SLS. Removal Instructions --------------------- 1. As root, remove the package using these commands: $ su # pkgrm ptf7011 2.
