Dear SCO Customer,
 
Support Level Supplement (SLS) PTF7004A, the UnixWare 7 Language Extension
Supplement, corrects problems with the configuration of the Verity search 
engine within SCOhelp and with the localization of various utilities and
SCOadmin managers.

SLS PTF7004A modifies the following packages in UnixWare 7:

    Base System                         (base)
    French Language Extensions          (frle)
    German Language Extensions          (dele)
    Japanese Language Extensions        (jale)
    Spanish Language Extensions         (esle)
 
If you are about to install any of these packages, quit the installation 
of SLS PTF7004A, install these packages first, and then install this SLS.
 
Please note which packages are affected by SLS PTF7004A.  If you later 
install any of these packages on your system, you must reinstall this SLS 
to get the fixes for these packages.
 
Solution Specifics
------------------

The following issues have been addressed by PTF7004A:

1. Many message catalogs have been corrected or updated for French, German,
   Japanese, and Spanish.

2. Problems running Netscape Navigator and CDE in the Spanish locale
   have been corrected.

3. The Search button in Scohelp sometimes displayed the message "Unexpected
   initialization error" instead of the search interface.  SLS PTF7004A
   contains a fix that should correct this problem in most instances.

4. The Options available within SCOhelp's Verity search engine could display
   "undefined" language checkboxes, and the language corresponding to a
   user's locale might not be available for searching.  The version of SCOhelp
   in this SLS will correctly display configured languages for searching.

5. The SCOhelp HTTP server configuration file, lang.conf, now correctly uses
   "ja" instead of "jp" as the locale name for Japanese.


 
Software Notes and Recommendations
----------------------------------
 
SLS PTF7004A should only be installed on:

   UnixWare 7 with UnixWare 7 Release Supplement (uw7rs) applied

Running the command:

   uname -sv

will return "UnixWare 7" if this release is installed.

Running the command: 

   pkginfo | grep uw7rs

will return "patch uw7rs uw7rs - SCO UnixWare 7 Release Supplement" 
if the release supplement is installed.


Hardware Notes and Recommendations
----------------------------------

This package is intended for i486, Pentium, Pentium Pro, Pentium II, and
compatible CPUs.

Installation Instructions
-------------------------

1. Download the ptf7004a.Z and ptf7004a.txt files to the /tmp
   directory on your machine.

2. As root, uncompress the file and add the package to your
   system using these commands:

     $ su
     # uncompress /tmp/ptf7004a.Z
     # pkgadd -d /tmp/ptf7004a

3. Shut down and reboot the system after installing SLS PTF7004A.


Removal Instructions
---------------------

As root, remove the package using this command:

   pkgrm ptf7004
