An enhanced USB driver that supports both USB modems and serial adapters is provided. The device driver adds support for USB modems that conform to the CDC/ACM specification. Before Installing this Supplement ====================================== To install the entire supplement you should first install UnixWare 7.1.4 Maintenance Pack 3 (MP3). Without MP3 you may encounter panics when removing hot plug devices. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Installing this Supplement =============================== 1) Log in as root. 2) Download the usb.iso supplement from http://www.sco.com/support/update/download/release.php?rid=193 3) In the directory where you downloaded the usb.iso file, enter: # mount `marry -a usb.iso` /install 4) Change directory to /install: # cd /install 5) Do one of the following: A) (highly recommended) To install the entire supplement enter: # ./install.sh [-nv] This will show you a menu screen listing the names of the packages that should be installed. Typically all of the supplement's packages are listed and selected for installation. The exception is if the current or a later version of a package is already installed on your system. The optional -n (non-interactive) flag skips the menu screen and proceeds to install the default selection of packages. The optional -v (verbose) flag provides more status information during the installation. B) To individually install packages, enter: # ./install.sh [packages] where packages can be any of the packages listed in Section I. 6) After all desired packages are installed, reboot the system by typing: # shutdown -i6 -g0 -y ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Removing this Supplement ============================ This supplement cannot be removed. However, if you had installed an earlier version of the UDI/USB packages (e.g., you had installed the UDI/USB packages when installing UnixWare 7.1.4), it is possible to "roll back" this supplement by installing earlier versions. Please reinstall the package. Failure to do so may leave your system in an inconsistent state. then please uw714m3 from your UnixWare 7.1.4 MP3 installation media/ image. If you need to download MP3 again, you can do so from: http://www.sco.com/support/update/download/release.php?&rid=126 This warning message will be displayed after every pkgadd until you reinstall the uw714m3 package. 6) Reboot the system by typing: # shutdown -i6 -g0 -y ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Document Issued: September 2006 Copyright (c) 2006 The SCO Group, Inc.
