Dear SCO Customer,

 This package contains Support Level Supplement (SLS) ptf9000d, the
 xAPIC supplement, which adds multiprocessor support for the IBM
 xSeries 440 Server when two CECs are installed in the system and
 allows more than eight logical processors to be used when
 hyperthreading is enabled.  This supplement also allows the root disk
 and root disk controller for the IBM xSeries 360 and IBM xSeries 440 to
 be in the IBM RXE-100 Remote I/O Expansion Enclosure.

 I. Software Notes and Recommendations

     1. ptf9000d consists of two parts:

          a. Boot floppy images.

            ptf9000d.boot1.img      boot floppy 1 image
            ptf9000d.boot2.img      boot floppy 2 image

          b. Ptf9000d xAPIC support in compressed pkgadd format.

            ptf9000d.Z

    2. The ptf9000d boot floppies are required for initial system loading.

    3. The ptf9000d xAPIC support package should only be installed on:

       UnixWare 7.1.3 with the UnixWare 7.1.3 Maintenance Pack 2 (uw713mp2)
       or
       UnixWare 7.1.3 with the UnixWare 7.1.3 Update Pack 1 (uw713up1)

       The ptf9000d xAPIC support package is required and should be
       installed on systems with UnixWare 7.1.3 Maintenance Pack 2 (uw713mp2)
       or later.

    4. This supplement supersedes the following supplements:

       ptf9000c

    5. If you have questions regarding this supplement, or the product on
       which it is installed, please contact your software supplier.

 II. Installation Instructions

     1. Create boot floppies from the ptf9000d boot floppy images using:

           # dd if=ptf9000d.boot1.img of=/dev/rdsk/f03ht bs=32b
           # dd if=ptf9000d.boot2.img of=/dev/rdsk/f03ht bs=32b

     2. Install UnixWare 7.1.3 using the 9000d boot floppies.
        You must install  Multi-Processing Support and the
        Intel  Spec PSM module.

     3. After the installation is complete and the system has re-booted,
        install one of the following:

            -  7.1.3 Maintenance Pack 2 (uw713mp2), or later.
            -  7.1.3 Update Pack 1 (uw713up1) or later.

     4. After the installation of  7.1.3 with the 9000d boot
        floppies, do not reboot your system until after the 9000d 
        support package has been installed using the instructions below.

     5. Download the 9000d.Z file to the / directory on your
        machine.  As root, uncompress the file and add the package
        to your system using these commands:

         $ 
         Password:
         # uncompress /tmp/9000d.Z
         # pkgadd -d /tmp/9000d
         # rm /tmp/9000d

        Alternatively, this  package may be installed in quiet mode, that
        is, without displaying the release notes and asking for confirmation.
        To do this, use these commands:

         $ 
         Password:
         # uncompress /tmp/9000d.Z
         # pkgadd -qd /tmp/9000d all
         # rm /tmp/9000d

     6. If you want to enable hyperthreading, edit the file "/stand/boot" to
        include the following line:

         ENABLE_JT=Y

     7. Reboot the system.

 III. Removal Instructions

     1. As root, remove the package using these commands:

         $ su
         Password:
         # pkgrm ptf9000

     2. Reboot the system after removing this package.
