Rapid, user-friendly boot

Rapid, user-friendly boot

The operating environment for clients (diskless and disk based, stand-alone and simple networked systems) is designed for end-users who are not necessarily computer literate. It is therefore important that the presentation of the system be simple and user-friendly. Most presentation is handled by the embedded application, but this is not available during boot and system initialization. Accordingly, the operating system has been enhanced to allow rapid, user-friendly booting. Two configurable messages are printed during a normal start-up sequence, along with some limited copyright information.

If the initial boot sequence fails, an error message is displayed. The operating system can be configured with this transparent booting on or off.
