Remote client management provides the ability to remotely monitor process status, manage files and log error messages. This facility is also easily extensible by the application developer. See ``Remote client management'' for more details.

Additional tools can be configured on disk based client, stand-alone and simple networked system operating systems to enable application programs and drivers to be debugged remotely from an embedded server. These tools are not usually available on diskless clients.

If problems are encountered during application or driver development, it is recommended that the debugging should be performed on disk based configurations. If the application or driver is diskless specific, it may be necessary to configure a non-boot hard disk or floppy for the diskless system to act as a repository for any core dumps.

The SURF monitor can be used to identify performance bottlenecks when testing application software and drivers. See ``SURF monitor'' for more details.
