PROBLEM:  What is soap-1.0.0Bb_vol.tar, the "gSOAP 2.3.3 and JavaSOAP
          (including Xerces for Java)" for OpenServer 5.0.7 product?

SOLUTION:  The soap-1.0.0Bb_vol.tar file provides an updated OpenServer 5.0.7
           soap product.  The soap product provides these packages:
		- gSOAP 2.3.3 (version 2.3.3Bb)
		- JavaSOAP and Xerces for Java (version 1.0.0Bc)
		- SCOx Web Services Language Demos (version 1.0.0Bb)

            The gSOAP and SCOx packages are the same as was provided
            in OpenServer 5.0.7 Supplement 5 soap version 1.0.0Ba.

	    The revised "JavaSOAP and Xerces for Java" package upgrades
            the SOAP/XML-based web services implementation to the Apache
            Axis 1.2 level.

            Note:  If you previously installed an earlier version of the
                   JavaSOAP and Xerces for Java package (for example,
                   version 1.0.0Bb that was provided with OpenServer 5.0.7
                   Supplement 5 soap 1.0.0Ba), then please use custom to
		   remove the earlier version before installing this 
		   product's updated version.
       
Installation
============

No other products are required in order to install the soap-1.0.0Bb_vol.tar
file.  To install this file:

  1. Log in to your system as root. 

  2. Download soap-1.0.0Bb_vol.tar from either the SCO web site or using FTP. 

       - to use the web site, go to this web page: 

           http://www.sco.com/support/update/download/release.php?rid=204

       - to use FTP, go to this location: 

   ftp://ftp.sco.com/pub/openserver5/507/other/soap_1.0.0Bb/soap-1.0.0Bb_vol.tar
           
     Download the soap-1.0.0Bb_vol.tar file to an empty directory, such as
     /tmp/soap100Bb. After the download is complete, change to the directory
     containing the soap-1.0.0Bb_vol.tar file and run the following to extract
     the media image files: 

        tar xvf soap-1.0.0Bb_vol.tar

  3.  Start the Software Manager by double-clicking on its icon on the desktop,
      or by entering the following at the command-line prompt: 

        scoadmin software 

  4.  If you previously installed an earlier version of the JavaSOAP and
      Xerces for Java package, then please remove it.

      To do so, first double click on "gSOAP 2.3.3 and JavaSOAP (including
      Xerces for Java) (ver 1.0.0Ba)".  Then highlight "JavaSOAP and Xerces
      for Java (ver 1.0.0Bb)", select "Software", and choose "Remove Software".

      After the old package is removed continue to the next step of this
      installation procedure.

  5.  From the Software menu, select Install New. 

  6.  When prompted for the host (machine), select the current host and then
      click on Continue. 

  7.  Select Media Images as the Media Device then click on Continue. (You may
      need to scroll down before you see the Media Images option.) 

  8.  Enter the absolute pathname for the directory that contains the
      soap-1.0.0 media images, for example, /tmp/soap100Bb.

  9.  Click on OK. 

 10.  In the Install Selection window, make sure that
      	gSOAP 2.3.3 and JavaSOAP (including Xerces for Java) (ver 1.0.0Bb)
      is highlighted then click on Install. 

      Note:  If you installed a prior version of this product (for example,
             version 1.0.0Ba) then you may see this message:

                  Part of the software selected for installation is
                  already installed.  This operation will only install
                  the software not currently on the system.

             This is expected behavior; click on "Continue".

 11.  When the installation is complete, click on OK.  The Software Manager
      should list "gSOAP 2.3.3 and JavaSOAP (including Xerces for Java)
      (ver 1.0.0Bb)" among the installed software. 

 12.  Exit the Software Manager by selecting the Host menu, then Exit. 

Removal
=======

To remove the gSOAP 2.3.3 and JavaSOAP (including Xerces for Java) for
OpenServer 5.0.7 product:

  1.  Start the Software Manager by double-clicking on its icon on the desktop,
      or by entering the following at the command-line prompt: 

        scoadmin software 

  2.  The following products are dependent on javasoap being installed:

	HipcheckSCOUnixAgent
	MeincSCOUnixProxyAgentService

      If you have installed these products and want to then remove the
      "gSOAP 2.3.3 and JavaSOAP (including Xerces for Java)" for OpenServer
      5.0.7 product, you must first remove these products.  Then:

  3.  Highlight:
          gSOAP 2.3.3 and JavaSOAP (including Xerces for Java) (ver 1.0.0Bb)

  4.  Select the Software menu and then "Remove Software".  When prompted
      select Remove.

  5.  When the removal is complete, click on OK.

  6.  Exit the Software Manager by selecting the Host menu then Exit.
