AFPS 4.0.3 Notes and Limitations ================================ + AFPS 4.0.3 supports the following clients: Windows 3.1.1/95/98/98Se/ME and Windows NT4 WorkStation If you wish to try to use AFPS 4.0.3 with a later, unsupported version of Windows, it may be helpful to make the configuration change described below. This change "downgrades" the version of the Windows networking protocols to avoid some problems seen with later versions of Windows. 1. As root, change directory to /usr/net/servers/lanman. 2. Using your favorite editor, enter the "lanman.ini" file. 3. Under the [lmxserver] section add the following line: protocol=1 4. Once the lanman.ini file changes have been saved and you have exited, you will need to stop and restart the AFPS server by doing the following: # net stop server; net start server See the list of fixed bugs below for info on issues that are affected by this parameter. + There is a known problem with setting the protocol=1 variable. The Security tab is removed when the Properties window is viewed from the Windows client for files on AFPS shares. The workaround for this is to use the NET PERMS command from the Unix prompt. Bugs Fixed by AFPS 4.0.3 ======================== The following issues have been fixed in AFPS 4.0.3: + If a file was created in a share with no extension, the file date would be set to 1 Jan 1970. (fz527869) + If a directory had over 500 files in it, the directory listing would not display properly. + "net version" now works. + "net user" and "net user xxx [options]" now work. + Problems with AFPS message catalogs have been fixed. By adding "protocol=1" in the [lmxserver] section of the lanman.ini file and restarting AFPS (as described above), the following issues are addressed: + AFPS 4.0.2 did not handle deletions from Notepad properly. (fz527581) + MS security fix MS04-012 (kb828741), Cumulative Update for Microsoft RPC/DCOM, broke AFPS logon scripts and administration tools. (fz529388) + AFPS client couldn't copy long filenames onto a share using a batch file or roaming profile mechanism. (fz527669) + Accessing a file over a direct UNC from Start->Run without a drive mapped now works. + xcopy of a tree structure from a local Windows drive to an AFPS shared drive now works. AFPS 4.0.3 also contains the following fixes which were first fixed in SLS APP619: + Printing from a Windows client to the HP DesignJet 650C plotter would result in no print data reaching the printer and an AFPS lmx.srv process that consumes all the CPU time. (fz525932) + A printer task on the Windows client would hang when submitting a print job to an AFPS server configured to "disable uplevel printing". + Integration with DocView has been improved. + Printing would fail when submitting a print job to a client printer attached to a Windows NT or Windows 2000 system. ____________________ Copyright (c) 2005 The SCO Group, Inc.
