PROBLEM:  What drivers are available for the Adaptec Ultra320 SCSI Host Adapters?

NOTE:     This driver package is to be installed on:

	  	SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.6a, 5.0.7b

NOTE:     Refer to the ad320(HW) manual page (see ad320.HW.html in the download
	  directory) for important information before installing this driver.

NOTE:     This driver is also shipped as part of OpenServer 5.0.7 
          Supplement CD 3.

          To install the driver, follow these sets of instructions: 
	  
          1. Acquire the driver from the ftp address given above.

             - Download the btld image to a directory/file on your machine,
               for example, /tmp/ad320_btld.img.

             - Verify the downloaded image using sum:

	           sum -r /tmp/ad320_btld.img
		
               This should return:

                   57342  2880 /tmp/ad320_btld.img

             - Format a floppy media using the format command.

             - Copy the downloaded image to the floppy:

	           dd if=/tmp/ad320_btld.img of=/dev/fd0 bs=18k

             - Verify the copied floppy image using sum:

	           sum -r /dev/fd0     
	
               This should return:

                   57342  2880 /dev/fd0    

             - Shutdown the host and install the Adaptec controller. 
	  
          2a. Fresh Installation on Primary Drive

	      - Insert a boot disk or Installation CD and boot up the system.

	      - At the boot prompt type: 

		    defbootstr link=ad320

	      - Hit return and continue with normal installation. 
	
	  2b. Secondary Drive Installation

              - Boot and Login normally.

	      - Mount the floppy image: 

	            mount -r /dev/fd0 /mnt

              - Use the BTLD Install script to install the driver:
  
	            /etc/btldinstall /mnt

          Once the kernel has been relinked reboot the host and verify that 
          the driver is initializing the card. The boot time banner should 
          look similar to the below:

	  If you are installing this machine fresh with no additional operating
          systems or disks configured on the Adaptec Ultra320 adapter, it 
          is recommended that you enable "Extended Int 13 Translation for 
          DOS Drivers >  1 Gbyte"
	  
          This is found in the Adaptec SCSI BIOS configuration Under "Advanced
          Configuration". If this is not a fresh install do not enable this 
          option because it will make the contents of existing disks 
          inaccessible.
	  
	  When the adapter is installed and the boot time banner is properly
	  displayed, you may use the appropriate mkdev script to add a disk,
	  tape, or cdrom to the Ultra SCSI Bus.
	
          Currently this version of the ad320 supports the use of up to two 
          host bus adapters. Dual channel controllers count as two 
          separate adapters.
