Getting Started


RealNetworks RealPlayer 5.0 for UnixWare 7 systems

The RealNetworksTM RealPlayerTM enables Internet and intranet users to view and listen to RealAudio® and RealVideo® clips.

System Requirements

Software: UnixWare® 7
Supplement: Audio Configuration Manager Supplement (7.0.0a or higher)
RAM: 32MB (64 MB recommended)
Disk space: 2MB free disk space
Video card: 256 colors required (24-bit color recommended)
Sound card: 16-bit sound card with Open Sound System sound driver

Installation Notes

Before beginning the installation, download and print the Release and Installation Notes for the RealNetworks products from http://www.sco.com/documentation/postscript/realnet/uw7.
The PostScript files are provided in gzip (.gz) compressed format. Uncompress these files with gunzip from http://www.sco.com/documentation/postscript/bin/gunzip_uw7.tar.

Audio Configuration Manager Supplement

RealPlayer 5.0 will not operate correctly without the Audio Configuration Manager Supplement (7.0.0a or higher) installed. This supplement provides a new audio driver and a new graphical SCOadmin Audio Manager. You can download the supplement from:

Installation

Once you have downloaded the product tar file(s) from the Download page, perform the following steps as root:

  1. Move the file(s) to a preferred installation directory:
    mv C0*.tar /tmp1
  2. Change to the installation directory:
    cd /tmp1
  3. Using the tar command, extract the installation images:
    tar xvf C0*.tar
  4. Use pkgadd to install RealPlayer software and documentation:
    pkgadd -d `pwd`/rnplayer.pkg
    pkgadd -d `pwd`/rnplayerD.pkg
