SCO Doctor Release 2.0.0 Products for SCO OpenServer Release 5 Platforms

SCO Doctor(TM), SCO Doctor for Networks(TM), and SCO Agent for SCO Doctor provide a rich selection of systems management facilities, including proactive management with automatic corrective actions to prevent system problems before they cause degradation or failure. Additionally, automatic tuning ensures optimum performance for your specific load and configuration, and Automatic Alert Notification allows you to monitor system events and define corrective actions in response to alerts.

The SCO Doctor systems management platform is designed to address the wide spectrum of SCO UNIX® system configurations in use today. Powered by an intelligent inference engine, SCO Doctor automatically monitors and manages your system to provide the best possible reliability and availability to users. Its intelligence reduces the level of human interaction required in systems management and extends the proactive systems management paradigm for local and remote machines.

All SCO Doctor products run on SCO OpenServer(TM) Release 5 systems. The hardware requirements for each product are listed below:

Downloading and Installing SCO Doctor Products

To download and install the SCO Doctor products or the SCO Advanced Server SCOadmin Supplement:

  1. Depending on the speed and reliability of your Internet connection, you can select to download the SCO Doctor products as a complete tar file or as partial tar files.


  2. As root, start the Software Manager in one of the following ways:

  3. Select Install New from the Software menu.

    NOTE: If you want to install the SCO Advanced Server SCOadmin Supplement on an SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.0 system, select Patch Management and then the Apply Patch option from the Software menu.

  4. Select the host that contains the installation images that you downloaded.

  5. Select ``Media Images'' as your media device and press Continue.

  6. Enter the full path to the installation images that you downloaded. For example, to install SCO Doctor for Networks, enter:

    /tmp1/scodoctor

    To install the SCO Advanced Server SCOadmin Supplement, enter:

    /tmp1/oss414Ag

    NOTE: See ``Contents of the SCO Doctor Download File'' for the names of the subdirectories in which the installation images for the SCO Doctor products and the SCO Advanced Server SCOadmin Supplement are stored.

  7. Highlight the desired SCO Doctor product or patch then select either Full for a full installation or Partial for a partial installation.

  8. If you are installing an SCO Doctor product, you are prompted for a product license.

    If you do not have a permanent license, you can use one of the following 60-day evaluation licenses:

    Click on License. For information on product licensing and using the SCOadmin License Manager, see the SCO OpenServer Handbook.

  9. When the installation is complete, select Exit from the Host menu.

  10. To configure SCO Doctor, start the program in one of the following ways:

    An Installation Wizard is invoked when you first run doctor, to help guide you through the SCO Doctor configuration. You can press <Esc> or select cancel at any time if you want to exit the Wizard. You can return to the Wizard at any time to complete the configuration process by selecting Installation Wizard from the Help menu.


After installing an SCO Doctor product, you should refer to the SCO Doctor Release and Installation Notes, which are available from the SCOhelp documentation system. Alternatively, you can view this document from the SCO Doctor Download page by clicking on the Release Notes link.



Licensing

Please remember that the evaluation licenses are good for sixty (60) days from the date of installation. Should you wish to use the product beyond the sixty day period, you can purchase a permanent Certificate of License and Authenticity (COLA) from your SCO Authorized Reseller.

Evaluation licenses cannot be reused; removing a product installed with a particular license and attempting to use that license for the installation of another product will fail.
