Dear SCO Customer, Support Level Supplement (SLS) PTF4033A, the UnixWare DPT HBA Supplement, provides an updated DPT DDI7 IHV HBA to resolve these problems: 1. A hang condition that would occur on a UnixWare 2.1.x multiprocessor system when using disksetup(1M) to perform a surface analysis on a disk attached to a DPT SCSI host adapter. 2. Correctly implements the PDI/SDI SCSI passthrough mechanism within the DPT HBA driver. This will improve the performance of ARCserve during backup and restore operations. Software Notes and Recommendations ---------------------------------- SLS PTF4033A should only be installed on these releases: SCO UnixWare Application Server Release 2.1.0, 2.1.1, 2.1.2, 2.1.3 SCO UnixWare Personal Edition Release 2.1.0, 2.1.1, 2.1.2, 2.1.3 UnixWare 7.0.0, 7.0.1 The DPT DDI7 IHV HBA, provided in SLS PTF4033A, can be used to overwrite the existing DDI8 driver on UnixWare 7.0.0 and 7.0.1, in order to resolve the ARCserve performance problem. Installation Instructions ------------------------- 1. Download the ptf4033a.hba and ptf4033a.txt files to the /tmp directory on your machine. 2. Insert a formatted 1.44MB diskette into diskette drive 1. 3. Copy the ptf4033a.hba image to the diskette. For example, as root: $ su # dd if=/tmp/ptf4033a.hba of=/dev/fd0 4.
