Dear SCO Customer, The enclosed Support Level Supplement (SLS) PTF3142, the 'libnsl t_optmgmt patch' Supplement, removes SVVS compliance on calls to t_optmgmt() where the endpoint given in the parameter list is not bound to a transport. The SVVS specification stipulates that said condition shall return an error and set t_error to TOUTSTATE. Software Notes and Recommendations ---------------------------------- SLS PTF3142 must be installed to run the Sybase Dataserver on SCO UnixWare 2.1.1 and 2.1.2. In addition, if the Sybase Dataserver is being used for TPC-C benchmark tests on a large-memory system (greater than 2GB) the following additional PTFs must also be installed to obtain the best possible performance: (1) PTF3165 - Allows more than 512 concurrent rlogin sessions. (2) PTF3190 - Allows the UnixWare 2.1.1 or 2.1.2 kernel to boot with up to 4GB of contiguous memory. (3) PTF3191 - Allows the UnixWare 2.1.1 or 2.1.2 system to effectively use up to 4GB of physical memory. Standards Note: Although the resolution implemented in SLS PTF3142 resulted in a minor deviation from SVVS compliance, the behavior of t_optmgmnt() continues to conform to the more widely recognized XTI (X/OPEN) standard. Installation Instructions ------------------------- 1. Become root and create a new directory by typing the following: $ su (Password: ) # mkdir /tmp/pkg # chmod 700 /tmp/pkg # cd /tmp/pkg 2. Download the ptf3142.Z and the ptf3142.txt files to the newly created /tmp/pkg directory on your machine. 3. Read the Release Notes contained in the ptf3142.txt file. 4. Add the package to your system using the following commands: # zcat /tmp/pkg/ptf3142.Z | pkgadd -d - Alternately, you can uncompress the PTF and install it as follows: # uncompress ptf3142.Z # pkgadd -d /tmp/pkg/ptf3142 5. Reboot the system after installing this PTF. Removal Instructions --------------------- 1. Become root and remove the package by typing these commands: $ su (Password: ) # pkgrm ptf3142 2. Reboot the system after removing this PTF. If you have questions regarding this SLS, or the product on which it is installed, please contact your software supplier. We appreciate your business.
