Dear SCO Customer, The enclosed Support Level Supplement (SLS) PTF3052, the Crash Utility Supplement, corrects the crash utility for any UniProcessor or MultiProcessor SCO UnixWare 2.0 or SCO UnixWare 2.1 system as specified below. Some commands in previous versions of crash exhibited minor yet disabling problems. For example, the stack trace command would fail to complete a trace, or would show a stack trace irrelevant to the system panic under investigation. SLS PTF3052 improves the original crash program, primarily for command line and symbol handling. The commands "addstruct", "hexmode", "reduce", and "resmgr" have been added. The command "help" shows a summary of the improvements: "help od" describes structure improvements to "od"; and "help -e" shows the syntax and title of every command. Software Notes and Recommendations ---------------------------------- SLS PTF3052 may be installed on any of these releases: SCO UnixWare Application Server Release 2.01, 2.02, 2.03 SCO UnixWare Personal Edition Release 2.01, 2.02, 2.03 SCO UnixWare Application Server Release 2.1.0, 2.1.1, 2.1.2 SCO UnixWare Personal Edition Release 2.1.0, 2.1.1, 2.1.2 SLS PTF3052 contains these files: /usr/lib/crash/addstruct /usr/sbin/crash The same PTF3052 crash binary can run on any of these releases, UniProcessor or MultiProcessor, to examine that running system, or to examine a system dump from any other of these releases. This version of crash may also be run on an SCO OpenServer 5 system to examine an SCO UnixWare system dump stored on the SCO OpenServer 5 system.
