Dear SCO Customer, Support Level Supplement (SLS) PTF3384, the SCO Streams Supplement, includes a new I/O driver that addresses a problem with the streams mechanism for processing queued service routines. The service routine is being called immediately after the putq() function call, rather than being scheduled to run after the put routine exists. The replacement I/O driver included in PTF3384 changes this function so that a put routine must exist before a service routine is called. In order for the changes to take effect, a system reboot is required following installation of this SLS. Software Notes and Recommendations ---------------------------------- SLS PTF3384 can be installed only on these releases: SCO UnixWare Application Server Release 2.1.0 SCO UnixWare Personal Edition Release 2.1.0 Testing of the modified software contained in this SLS has been conducted only to the extent necessary to confirm that it resolves the problem stated above. Such testing consists of recreating the problem conditions (typically in an SCO test laboratory) and verifying that the problem no longer occurs. No other testing of this software has been done. Hardware Notes and Recommendations ---------------------------------- This SLS is intended for i386, i486 and Pentium CPUs. Installation Instructions ------------------------- 1. Download the ptf3384.Z and ptf3384.txt files to the /tmp directory on your machine. 2. As root, uncompress the file and add the SLS to your system using these commands: $ su # uncompress /tmp/ptf3384.Z # pkgadd -d /tmp/ptf3384 3. Reboot the system after installing this SLS. A new unix kernel will be built and the system will then reboot itself. A system reboot is required following installation of this SLS in order for the changes to take effect. Removal Instructions -------------------- 1. As root, remove the SLS: $su # pkgrm ptf3384 2. Reboot the system after removing this SLS. If you have questions regarding this SLS, or the product on which it is installed, please contact your software supplier.
