Dear SCO Customer,

The enclosed Support Level Supplement (SLS) PTF3124E, the Enhanced 'adsl' 
Driver, is based on CHIM code from Adaptec.  This corrects several issues 
with the earlier drivers, including:

           1. Poor performance using Quad controller (4944W)
           2. Data Overrun/Underrun errors
               
PTF3124E supersedes all previous versions of this SLS (PTF3124B and PTF3124C).


Software Notes and Recommendations
----------------------------------

PTF3124E should only be installed on these releases:

           SCO UnixWare Application Server Release 2.1.0, 2.1.1, 2.1.2
           SCO UnixWare Personal Edition Release 2.1.0, 2.1.1, 2.1.2


Installation Instructions
-------------------------

When using PTF3124E as an additional HBA diskette during an operating system
installation, be sure to insert this diskette _before_ any other HBA diskettes.

1. Become root and create a new directory by typing the following:
 
     $ su
     Password: <type your root password>
     # mkdir /tmp/pkg
     # chmod 700 /tmp/pkg
     # cd /tmp/pkg

2. Download the ptf3124e.hba.adsl.dd.Z file to the newly created /tmp/pkg 
   directory on your machine.
 
3. Uncompress the file, make a floppy image of the file and add the package 
   to your system using these commands:
 
     # uncompress /tmp/pkg/ptf3124e.hba.adsl.dd.Z
     # dd if=ptf3124e.hba.adsl.dd of=/dev/dsk/f0t
     # pkgadd -d /dev/dsk/f0t


Removal Instructions
---------------------

1. Become root and remove the package by typing these commands:

    $ su
    Password <type your root password>
    # pkgrm adsl
