PRODCUT AND VERSION:

UnixWare 2.03

Abstract
--------

The threads library uses a separate thread to administer timer 
requests for multiplexed threads.  An overflow-adjustment 
calculation for this timer mechanism is corrected in this PTF.


Symptom
--------

Application programs written to use threads experienced a thread 
abort (core dump) when a timer signal was less than one second.


SOLUTION SPECIFICS
------------------

Apply the tf2240 file.
 
 
Installation Instructions:
 
DATATYPE: datastream
 
This package should be installed in single-user mode.

1.  Download the tf2240.Z and the tf2240.txt files to the /tmp directory
    on your machine.
 
2.  Read the release notes contained in this file.           
 
3.  Now become root, uncompress the file and add the package to your 
    system using the following commands:
 
      $ su
      # uncompress /tmp/tf2240.Z
      # pkgadd -d /tmp/tf2240 
 
General Description.

This patch installs an updated libthread.so and libthreadT.so.

Software Notes and Recommendations.
----------------------------------

This PTF can be installed on UnixWare 2.03 systems.
Testing of the modified software contained in this package has
been conducted only to the extent necessary to confirm that it
resolves the problem(s) stated above ("Symptom").  Such testing
consists of recreating the problem conditions (typically in a
SCO test laboratory) and verifying that the problem no longer
occurs.  No other testing of this software has been done.
