TITLE: TF2228 - ATAPI upgrade for IDE driver. README FOR: TF2228 PRODUCT AND VERSION: SCO UnixWare 2.03 Installation Instructions: 1. Download the tf2228.hba.dd and tf2228.txt files to the /tmp directory on your machine. TF2228 consists of a single 3.5 inch HBA floppy. The floppy contains a new IDE driver in HBA format. The driver may be installed onto a system running only UnixWare 2.03. To install it, you must first transfer the contents of tf2228.hba.dd to a formatted floppy diskette with the command: dd if=tf2228.hba.dd of=/dev/rdsk/f03ht The floppy may first be formatted with the command: format /dev/rdsk/f03ht With the floppy diskette inserted in the floppy drive, type: pkgadd -d diskette1 and respond to the prompts output by pkgadd. The IDE driver contained in the PTF's HBA floppy may also be installed during an initial system installation of UnixWare 2.01. To install the ptf during a system installation, insert the floppy into the floppy drive when prompted by the system for HBA's. Abstract: -------- Problems resolved with ATAPI support for IDE driver. Symptom: -------- Two symptoms were present: 1. The ATAPI driver does not support transfers greater than 64KB. The transfers fail for IDE drivers when reading blocks greater or equal than 64KB. 2. The NEC and HITACHI CD-ROM with ATAPI interface do not work with IDE, resulting in the a hanging condition for the CD-ROM. This update consists of a single 3.5 inch floppy diskette in HBA format. The PTF corrects two problems with the ATAPI interface to the IDE driver. The first problem is that NEC and HITACHI CD_ROMs with the ATAPI interface may may hang with the IDE driver. The second problem is that transfers of blocks greater or equal than 64 KB may fail.
