TECHNICAL INFORMATION DOCUMENT TITLE: TF2197 - IDE Host Bus Adapter Driver DATE: 27NOV95 README FOR: TF2197 PRODUCT and VERSION: UnixWare 2.01 Installation Instructions: DATATYPE: compressedtar 1. Download the tf2197.tar.Z, tf2197hba.sh and tf2197.txt files to the /tmp directory on your machine. 2. Read the release notes contained in this file. 3. Now become root, and create the hba diskette. (This assumes that tf2197.tar.Z is in the /tmp directory, and that /tmp is the working directory.) $su (become the super user) # /tmp/tf2197hba.sh tf2197.tar.Z (This script will format and create the HBA diskette for you.) 4. You can now add the patch to your system via the pkgadd command or use the diskette at installation time as an additional hba diskette. #pkgadd -d diskette1 (This will add the package to an existing UnixWare system) ENGINEERING RELEASE NOTES ------------------------- Title ----- PTF2197 - IDE Host Bus Adapter Driver Product And Version ------------------- UnixWare 2.01, UnixWare 2.02, UnixWare 2.03 Abstract -------- PTF2197 provides UnixWare 2.01 with support for the IDE HBA driver for use with ATAPI CD-ROM devices. Symptom -------- UnixWare 2.01 did not support ATAPI CD-ROMs devices. SOLUTION SPECIFICS ------------------ General Description. ------------------- This PTF consists of a release of the IDE HBA floppy. The HBA floppy is used during the installation process (the installation process prompts you at the correct time to insert it). New Features. ------------ PTF2197 provides UnixWare 2.01 with an additional HBA floppy and provides support for ATAPI CD-ROM devices. The following ATAPI CD-ROMs have been tested: Mitsumi ATAPI CD-ROMs with firmware of BB03, BE01L, BB04, and BS01. Toshiba ATAPI CD-ROM XM-5302 with firmware of TA1095. Sony ATAPI CD-ROM CDU76E-S with firmware of 1.0C. Software Notes and Recommendations. ---------------------------------- During installation, UnixWare will prompt you twice for the HBA floppy, once before the UnixWare system packages are installed and once before the system reboots. After the initial HBA installation, enter the DCU and configure the IDE driver accordingly. The primary PCI IDE controller, if used, should be configured with: IRQ 14 IOStart 1F0 IOEnd 1FF MemStart - MemEnd - The secondary PCI IDE controller, if used, should be configured with: IRQ 15 IOStart 170 IOEnd 17F MemStart - MemEnd - For installation on a running UnixWare 2.01, 2.02, or 2.03 system, pkgadd the IDE HBA floppy and configure the IDE driver with the DCU. Testing of the modified software contained in this package has been conducted only to the extent necessary to confirm that it resolves the problem(s) stated above ("Symptom"). Such testing consists of recreating the problem conditions and verifying that the problem no longer occurs. No other testing of this software has been done. Hardware Notes and Recommendations. ---------------------------------- This PTF is targeted for the i386, i486 and Pentium CPU's.
